Count me in for the rip session Seriously, your design and fab skills are amazing. I only hope that when I land a job after I graduate in May (Automotive Engineering) , that I can come close to the quality of your work. Keep it up, subscribed!!

Haha, you're in;-) And thank you... we've come along way since the days of working in a 10 degree (sometimes colder) barn, doing everything with crude hand tools. As long as you guys love the work, we'll keep turning it out!

Check out our Rx7 build thread for updates as we take a break on our own builds to focus on a few customer's rides/projects.
Post your build threads here! Keep us updated on what you're doing in your garage.

As for the Z, the tube frame is coming together in 3D, and the rear end is starting to take shape in SolidWorks as well. The stock width of the Z is 61.4", the width of the mounting faces of the Cobra hubs is 62.2" so the new overall width (without any spaces) will be 79" in the rear. The front end will be slightly less, probably 77" give or take.

                            • A few shots of the frame layout in SW. The wheels and tires, along with the bottom frame are in their final locations, with a wheelbase of 100". Much of what you see is reference only at this point, there is MUCH more to be added/changed/revised. The height and locations of the top cross-bars are correct. The motor or is dimensionally correct as far as size, however all detail has been left out until it can be measured with the CMM arm. Intake manifold is 100% accurate, however this will more than likely change as this was originally designed for use the mid-engined single-seater. In this application it will stick out of the hood something fierce... I'm not sure thats what I want to go with just yet. The turbo manifolds are currently setup in a 180 degree configuration, however I believe these will be swapped in favor of a traditional setup as the turbos will be located just behind the front wheels on each side of the motor. The exhaust (both turbo and wastegate) will exit immediately out the side behind the front wheels, much like the Xanavi Nismo 350Z, although leaving the turbo and piping much more exposed, much like that of the older road racing Porsche's. The rear end from the Cobra will be measured up and find its way into the model, at which point the new A-arms and suspension pick-up points can be designed and added, along with the rest of the rear.
There's much work to be done, but its taking shape. Think wide and low... and then realize it will be ever wider and lower than that.
