Great work on the car man.
thanks everyone, yeah the motor really looks completely different without the ugly oddly shaped balance tube, and i still to this day wonder why they changed the shape of that sixth cylinder. I still say they were trying to clear some adjacent part, although none is there/
It definitely isnt flow results, as this flows far better as a result of the change. Between it, the extrude honing, and the larger openings awaiting larger 62mm throttle bodies should help a bit for now. soon though, there will be a lot less in the bay though. just some nice 50mm throttle bodies, and some nice simple air trumpets. really looking forward to having time to start on it.

as for new DD, i think i may add the legacy GT wagon to the list possibly. Would love a new 3 series, but not looking to have to throw a ton of money up for one. far out of my price range. I am willing to drop up to 28k-30k on a newish car, and more like 10k if its older and used.. I am still leaning toward a new or 1 year old VW cc. only things i plan on doing to the cc will likely be shorter throw shifter, wheels i design and build for it, and a very healthy lowering. low and quiet this time. It was great having an awesomely beastly sounding DD, but it was not so nice getting harassed by local cops pretty much every single weekend. beyond frustrating. Funniest thing is that in the 2 years i have owned that car, i never actually got a single moving violation. Shocking is an understatement, but the badge and some BSing usually does the trick

D Mack, yeah you need to come out to party one weekend. sunday we should be knocking out the air suspension on the bmw fyi

    • Yeah Legacys are nice. I think a CC is a good choice, I saw a black one on vossen's by me the other day and it looks awesome.

the main ideas i had originally been thinking of are:
        -wagon
        -manual transmission
        -something with a little style
-awd preferred, if not rwd is ok. i will do fwd (vw CC) but its hit or miss.
-has to be decent on gas (22mpg+)
-quiet this time. need to keep attention at a minimum. just low and clean this time
I know you said the CC is the only VAG car on your list, but you should think about a B5.5 Passat as well.

        - Matches all criteria above (if you get the V6 4Motion model or the W8 4Motion)
        - Cheap (you can find really nice examples for under $8k all day)
        - Easy to work on
        - Reliable (the V6 is pretty bullet proof, all I've ever needed to do to mine in the last 50k miles is change the oil)
        - All they need to look awesome is suspension and the right wheels

This is a B5, which is what I have for a daily:

        • Shit. I neglected to check and I'm just catching wind of this. I was actually in Hton for a good portion of the day saturday helping E with the front end biz on the Fozzy. Finally saw the M in person and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the Zed car.

you guys coming btw? i told walt, my brother is taking the bmw if its complete, and i will see what errols up to. maybe a nice cruise to the show

            • Hey Vince.

              -wagon
              -manual transmission
              -something with a little style
-awd preferred, if not rwd is ok. i will do fwd (vw CC) but its hit or miss.

              Easy. Porsche 924/944/968 (N/A versions)
It's a hatch. ( I can put 5 17x9/10 wheels with tires in the back with my roll/harness bar and close the hatch completely without the wheels touching the glass in my turbo )
My N/A got 21/25 mpg. You can use regular but I used premium
              manual of course
RWD. In snow, it's better imo than FWD due to 50.7 : 49.3 weight (almost 50/50)
Cheap. You can get a decent 924 for less than 3k
Early 944's have 150hp so it's not loud. It's weak but its fast on the track (light, good handling)
Turbos are more expensive and much more expensive to maintain.

BTW I'll be putting in an order for those gold center caps we talked about today They'll be going on my turbo S

              • Staggered ehh? Hmmmm...I'll have to see if I'm doing anything Sunday. I wasn't even hip to the show. Although the forecast isn't lookin too promising, but that's subject to change as usual. If anything, I'm sure I'll see you friday if Walt decides to get cray for his bday.

                    • awesome time yesterday at Staggered. Took top spot with the trophy for "Neck Breaker 2012" and had a great drive with some good friends. I need to load up the pictures from the camera, but saw this one pn FB this morning, and thought I would post it up.

hope to see some good shots of the engine bay, as the ones i took turned out eh.

only thing that happened is that the front fascia got a little misaligned during the 160 mile each way cruise from some uneven . other then that, all was awesome. we drove back in the m3 and my Z, and drove hard the whole way back, and these things were just begging for more. I have to say, that was one of the best drives in a stanced car i have had in years. 0 wheel clearance all around, height just above the pavement, and suspension that is ridiculously stiff should have been a combination for nightmare, but it was a total blast, and i think Walt and I were shocked how well these things came together.
