  • alright, decided as of last weekend, that I am making some changes to the stance in the near future. Car finally drives like a million dollars, and fits 10"/12.5" wheels like its meant to... but i am not quite happy. I guess im never happy/ looking to lessen the camber in the rear a bit to match the front. back to -4 all around, and possibly throwing a 295 tire on there if it comes down to it.

    SO...

going to do some more fender modification in the rear over the next few weeks and try to pull another 3/4" or so with my roller, and if it doesnt work (likely it wont) its going for a healthy dose of body widening in the fall for the start of the 2012/2013 winter work. i really dont want to touch the paint as it is original and still perfect, but i cant help myself. And while I am on that, im going to strip down the trunk area and get started on the half cage..

goal is to keep it looking stock-ish, but add another inch or so to each side, so i can get camber back down and throw a slightly meatier track tire on the rear 12.5" wheels. I think a nice slightly stretched 295/35 track tire should do the trick quite nicely. If i have to do paint work, then the antenna is getting shaved, and possibly the fuel door on the driver side. going to relocate the filler neck to inside the trunk (havent fully thought that out yet)

      • yeah that would look perfect. looks like i may go to a 295/35 track tire if they make it. but first, some modification to the body...

this weekend, i got back from being out of the country. I noticed : the garage is a mess, and i have too many sets of wheels haha (4 more sets of bbs rs are disassembled and all over the map at the moment..

        • the timeline is going to change a little. Since I dont want the car to be down all summer in preparation for a single show, the plan is to start on the metal work for the widebody in the early fall, and try to have it done by the end of october (canibeat FCF). this way i can drive her and enjoy it for the rest of the summer, because so far Ive only driven it about 10x this year (mostly short trips). that has to change

im going to start collecting parts in preparation for this work though (sideskirts, rear bumper, diffuser, pair of tires), and modifying a pretty much all of them as they come in. things should get interesting, and I will keep everyone posted as it happens

          • I have loved this thing since seeing it through all the FCF coverage last year and can't wait to see the makeover on.

            • Just went through the entire thread, love the amount of dedication and love that you've put into this car. If I could make my car even a quarter as clean as yours I would be happy. Can't wait for some updates!

                • i already posted this before i think, but i love this shot of the bay.

ripped the entire interior apart in prep for the hopefully soon half cage fabrication. other then that, its been too hot to get a ton done on the car lately. decided that the gap between the aug25 show and cabnibeat fcf likely in october will be when i get most of the work happening with the body widening. If i can get the cage all buttoned up before the aug25 show, i will be happy.

                            • Thanks I really appreciate it. Yeah its kind of a weird feeling to tell you the truth. Never intended to build a car that would get to this level, but the recognition is pretty awesome. Ive always built the car for myself and to test my skills, learn, etc.. but its gotten a whole lot farther then that, and I am thankful. It will likely be a project for me until i am an old man. haha
with that said, im itching to start another project or two, but first i need to make this house thing happen..

Lots more to come, ripped the car apart tonight for a few hours to get some more work underway.
I have to start on some measurements stat so i can bend the parts for the cage. deadlines are getting close...
