I got a lil tig following that discussion and looking forward to getting ok at welding. Right now it's ugly

Lookup the everlast inverters, they can be had for pretty cheap and seem to be ok machine for the hobbyist.
Nice what are you using? I have been looking at everlast, but I'm so fearful of it taking a dump on me. The price is very tempting though. I might be purchasing one if I can't find a miller used for the right price.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but the EastWood tig is getting really good reviews and it's just under $800. Not sure if you're looking for name brand stuff or not, but it seems to be good for the weekend hobbyist. Just a thought.

I haven't heard anything about everlast before so I'm not to sure about their quality.
But I'd suggest finding a used Miller. I've never had any problems with mine and it's been used everyday for the past like 10 years.

        • I got a miller 165 diversion. Good little machine but now wish I would have gotten the 180

            • Welding tips and tricks has one for the 200 series too. Thanks for the video

Really leaning towards the Everlast 200 series. I could get the tig, pedal, cooler, positioner, and bandsaw for what I would pay just for the miller dynasty 200.

Going to have to do some serious research in the next month or so

              • I'm sorry to bump the whole thread, but that's the only way I could subscribe.

I've just read through the whole thread, and I'm pretty stunned. This car is amazing, and your attention to detail and your stamina is just something else. Super stoked to see the F20C going in there too.

I simply don't know what else to say, it all seems so inadequate...

                • OMG speechless, such an epic build...my hand is sore from scrolling through all the pages LOL I cant even imagine how your arms felt from all that sanding.

Your almost there, keep up the good work!

                  • One more final tomorrow and I'm free. Couldn't handle studying for 5 more seconds, so I welded till the sun went down. Tunnels pretty much done, just need to cut out a plate for the shifter. Updates should start streaming in now.... enjoy!

                        • read this for 2 1/2+ hours.
                          totally worth it.
but i thought after 55 pages it would be finished

also, your motivation and abilities are amazing. you're only a year older than me and i have only dreamed about doing a build of this measure. keep up the great work man, in for updates cant wait to see it done.
I’ve had too many cars to list and most of them sucked.

                          • I love this thread. Not only is your project progressing, but your skills, photography and editing are progressing all the while. I can relate to this. I feel the more I work on my cars, and the more I document them, the more insight I gain on my fabrication, photography and editing style. It's a huge trifecta of progression, and I love to watch it happen to both you and I. I really hope we can have a photoshoot together one day, even though our 2002's will be completely different from one another's in the end.

                            • Great effort !
A few welding lessons before the project would have helped alot...wouldnt hurt now either

                              • fitted_fit- It will never be finished haha. Thanks though!

CubbyChowder- yeah it's funny how they go hand-in-hand. The trifecta seems to be hitting both of us! I'm also back to building ecommerce sites to pay for my 02 parts haha, so I'm playing with photoshop/taking pictures more. A photoshoot is a must in my mind. It just comes down to when we both are rolling around

morghen- A new welder would be great too, I want to take some classes when I get time. thanks
