Good to see this thing still around. I always liked this car even when I started lurking around here 2 years ago. Excited to see how your engine build comes out.

Your car is one of the OG rides I remember most when I first started coming to this site. I feel like most you guys don't post as much anymore.///M 2.0G60 POWAR... never forget

ABS is getting deleted, no coolant expansion tank, relocated PS reservoir etc. But almost all the lines are getting converted to AN, there's not going to be any silicone couplers, it's gonna all be v-band. A fair amount of powdercoating and polishing. Shit like that. I want it to be very tidy and well thought out.Strictly Pleasure/Zero Clearance/Stretch Your LegsAlex

My goodies showed up, there's more stuff but this is all the pretty stuff. Except the turbo, that shit needs polishing stat.

On the upper radiator hose you put an inline pressure valve with a fill cap, that will bleed pressure. You can run that dump to a catch can or something similar so it doesn't make a mess in the event that it ever does overheat. Looks just like a radiator cap but its on the hose instead of the radiator.

Ok, updates, totally forgot about this thread haha
So most of this wait time has been for the machine shop to do its thing on my block and rotating assembly. So in the meantime I tackled other projects. Step 1 was the interior. Shit was beat up. My dash got all sticky from the Florida humidity and it was literally falling apart, so I got a new one. I pulled the old dash out and while I was there I was going to replace the heater core which ruptured the last time the car ran. Can you say fucking NIGHTMARE. I don't know who the ashsole is that designed the hvac system in this car, but he should be shot.
Started removing stuff
Then I removed more stuff....
Then I had to remove more stuff again....
Still had to take a few more things out even after this picture. Needless to say by the time I was done I was pretty frustrated.
A big point of this build is that I want everything done right. Anyone can do a job like this and put shit back together but when they're done there's a bag of bolts left over of shit they never put back in. I want this car to have every OEM screw and faster installed. I want it to roll out of my garage as well put together as the factory did it. That required a few trips to the dealer to get shit but its worth it to me in the end.
Started putting everything back on. Anything that wasn't in good shape was tossed and a good condition piece was put in its place. That was damn near everything
Then I ordered my JHM short shifter with solid bushings.
Keen eyes will note that the solid bushing is actually missing in this pic. They forgot to send it, but they got me one shipped over after
There's gonna be some stuff converted to AN under the hood, so I got this nifty little press in AN fitting from integrated for the valve cover. Also got one for the crankcase breather.
A bit of black wrinkle finish paint
Not really sure I like it, but this has gotten way more expensive than I originally planned so real powdercoat is going to have to wait, besides I might be going somewhere else with colors.
I'm also painting all the stuff that bolts on to the block.
Then finally after 3 or 4 months my block came back
Dude came highly recommended and apparently he's a bad ass. Went over the whole block, fixed whatever was out of spec, decked it, re-honed the cylinders, balanced the crank and polished the journals, and then balanced the entire rotating assembly.
So I had to buy everything else to finish the bottom end. Main bearings, main bolts, thrust bearings, gaskets etc. Also bought an ARP crank dampener bolt and cam bolt for a little extra clamping force since this is going to rev higher now.
After checking oil clearances and cleaning the shit out of everything eleventy billion times, we started actually putting shit together. Finally some forward progress! In this pic the crank is in and we lined up the pistons to match bore sizes. Also note how much beefier these rods are
My friend Jared, this man is a genius. Wouldn't be able to do this without him.
Looks so clean compared to how it came in
Oil pump on with front cover and front main installed.
Cleaning the head. I have no finger prints left from how much fucking cleaning we've done.
Last but not least, I picked this up for a crackhead price
Progress should be coming more frequently now
