damnit, the speakers i got hooked up to my computer are messing up. the sub is trying to push the highs and mids, and my normally speakers are trying to push the bass

checked the wires, they're are setup right. hmm, maybe if i play around with the EQ a bit

found it, the db level on my EQ was setup up way to high, it was distorting the music when the bass hit hard.
