Kind of. To get a reprieve from the in-laws and to save money for a house. Once I spend like 6 months or so at my job I will determine if I should look in WV or just try to find something local. The price difference is huge so it's a big decision. I could easily save 2-3k a month in an apartment.

How big is the difference like $250k in WV and $350k in MD?

Try $225k in WV and $450k in MD. Tax in WV is like 1/2 what it is in MD.

It's huge. $225k buys me a newer than 2000, big house and 1 acre.

$350k in MD buys me an older house, less than 1/2 an acre and small.

PA is kind of too far for the roads I would have to take. VA is way over-priced. Similar to MD.

So say if you do buy a house now in WV and a few years later can afford to upgrade to MD, would you have any trouble selling the house?

I would have to pay 5-600k at least to "upgrade" to a house in MD. The WV houses were all built within the last 10 years and to get in that price range in MD I would have to pay a shit ton of money.

Good luck with the house hunt Justin. I'm in the same boat right now. The house I really like, although it doesn't have a garage, is a bit too pricey for me to live in it solo. Been looking for 2 roommates and I've found one that's interested, I just need to find one more.
