Yes. I'm not looking for a mansion, just something nice and not a complete rip-off (aka most of MD at the prices they go for)
Word. Good investment right now too. Do you qualify for an fha loan or are you putting 20% down?

I will actually be getting a VA loan so I won't have to put anything down.

            Ah ok.

What are the mortgage lending term over there? 20-30 years?

Similar to here i guess, the common is 25 years or 30 years

hmm, I'm probably going to go with 30 years loan here.

If i rent the house out for the first 5 years and dump any money from rent into the mortgage, I can cut 10 years off the loan and save about $100k of interest ( looking at a $350k loan)

If you pay $2k per month at 4% interest on a $250k loan, you should have it paid out way before 30 years

Yeah thats the point though, if you pay $2k on a $250k loan, you'll have it paid out in no time and save a shitload of money on the interest

Damn your cheap interest rates and houses, I will need to be paying a minimum of $2k per month for a $350k loan :/

                            I'd guess $400k

                                600k @ 4% over 30 years is about 2850 a month.
