Not really, they are pretty light. I've balanced a lot of wheels with TPMS sensors and it isn't any different than a normal wheel without it.

Ford used to have the dumbest TPMS sensors. Instead of the sensor being part of the valve stem like most systems, they had large bands that would attach them to the inside of the wheel and the sensor was opposite of the valve stem. The bands always broke which caused the sensor to tumble in the wheel ruining it. Replaced a few of those back when I worked in a shop.

My M3 uses the traction control to tell me when a tire is like 2psi below, its very fucking annoying hahaha.

You sure it isn't the ABS system?

Some cars with 4 wheel ABS use the speed sensors. If they sense one wheel is going slower than the others it'll throw the TPMS light. A soft tire will have more revolutions per mile than a normal one.

Not really? I don't have more than 30g on any one of my wheels.

I wonder how those things are mounted. Hat to lose one had have it bounce around inside my tire.

I think they're just adhesive-mounted to the barrel, and sealed to the valve stem hole with a nut and gasket.

I've never seen any adhesive mounted to the wheel barrel. Besides Ford's dumb way of doing it I've seen 2 other types:

-The valve stem is part of the sensor and has a nut on the outside that holds everything to the wheel. That's the most common I've seen.

-Then some look like normal rubber valve stems that are the pull through style and there is a screw that hold the sensor to it. I've seen that style on a few cars.
