Longest drive I did was from Toledo, OH to Loma Linda, CA. 2200 miles. In an e28 that had been sitting outside in an Ohio winter. My prep before the drive was an oil change and new battery. Your e46 has no excuse to not be at SoWo.

Its actually a lot cheaper than you think!
If you're ready to drive then you will be going through about 2 tanks of gas a day and it only takes 4/5 days to drive from SF-NY.
