A kid (male) I went to high school with put diesel in his 330i

One of my college roommates (male) from a few years ago didn't know how to change a flat... he let his car sit out in the winter for a few months without moving it, it went flat. He learned by doing. He also was worried his full-size spare wouldn't work bc it has extremely light surface rust.

My g/f can do almost any "regular" maintenance on her '98 M3 convertible. She's also really good at diagnosing where noises are coming from.

There are a lot of women who know stuff about cars and a lot of men who know nothing about them...

I keep wanting to listen to your insult here, but I can't get past the fact that you skipped a whole damn word. You need to do it right if you're going to correct someone, bro.

Still can't figure out how the oil wasn't the first thing you checked.

I'm putting you on the same level as your fiancé.

pretty much, If i hear a motor ticking I usually check the fluids first.

i thought maybe a pulley bearing or maybe a frayed belt contacting something as it spins.
lol... A ticking from a pulley and a tap from the top end being starved of oil are two different sounds. If the head is tapping due to no oil you can instantly recognise it since the noise will be coming from the rocker cover and not the front of the engine.

I know.. i guess i overlooked something so simpleat first.

and i made the mistake of assumeing she kept a eye on oil level.. and btw.. the tap was comeing from the front of the engine.

i'm still tryin to teach her... shes good at the sammiches and blowies part tho..
