I thought about putting in in my windshield, but that just looks JDM and on top of it It kind of points to the fact that you have no front plate...
I put there as a legitimate attempt to obey the law without ruining my shaved bumper. The law doesn't specify that it has to be on the bumper, however it does state that it needs to be unobstructed, and I guess the windshield is an obstruction.
I got a $50 ticket in sea side NJ for my plate "not being centered on my vehicle." I refuse to drill holes in my bumper to an unnecessary plate
That sounds like bullshit to me. Cars have come with non-centered plate frames for a long time now. The 1st and 2nd generation Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager minivans had them completely on the side, Evos have always had them side mounted, etc.
I just always have one ziptied to a lower grill up front and no hassles. Not worth the trouble imo
I was pulled over once but that may be because the state patrol was bored and was picking on the guy with a slammed Honda.
He was at an intersection across from me and I went and passed him and he turned the opposite way so I thought "cool no problem with him". Get about a block away and see his lights in my mirror, shit.
Well he pulls me over asked the usual, I say no I don't know why you puled me over. He says 3 reasons, one your exhaust is too loud, two you are very low, three you have no front plate. I say ok, I apologize. He say's do you even have suspension? I say yes and he pushes on my fender. (to inform you all my jacking points at this time were at 3"). Then he say's my exhaust is illegal and asks if I've done all the work to my car and I stupidly said yes. Well he gave me a fix it ticket and I raised it put the front plate on and put in my exhaust silencer. So yeah sorry for the story but that's the only problem I've ever had with the cops. Plan on going to at least 2" from ground to jacking points to the ground. Hope I don't have problems with cops.
Got pulled over right next to LAX by three squad cars and a motorcycle cop...for no front plate. Was on the way to the beach to get a nice sunset sesh in, kept me parked on the side of the road till the sun was down and it was almost dark.
nj, never been pulled over for almost 4 years now for no front plate. my front bumper does not have holes, but the car does come with a license plate bracket that bolts somewhere on the bumper support, looks better without one
only been pulled over for a loud exhaust (test pipes), after about 15seconds of chatting, he let me go with no ticket
dont drive like an ass, dont drive like the typical 20 something year old, and youll be fine i think
yeah i got pulled over twice by state troopers for no front plate. only got a ticket once though, other was a warning. Showed up to court with a picture of my car with the plate on the bumper and the judge dismissed it.
But I have never gotten troubled by local cops for no front plate.
i got pulled over doing 75 in a 50, talked to the cop for a while and he ended up giving me a two tickets for no front plate and obstructed windshield for hanging a miniature boxing glove from my rear view...each ticket was 50 bucks.
oh well beats a speeding ticket any day
I had mine zip tied to my lower grille insert.. It kept falling off when I would scrape the front lip so I put it in my windshield about 3 weeks ago... no problems yet
I've gotten countless amounts. Even though no front plate isn't a fix-it ticket in NY (why I have no idea), I just get them written off right away. Stop at the police station and go look, front plate! No windshield stickers! Good tires! Fixed exhaust! They all get written off usually regardless if it's a fix it or not. Cops get pissed at other cops for giving me these tickets usually it's pretty funny.
