A lot of the UK scene seriously hates on the "hellaflush" and "stance" trend going through the various genres at the moment.

To the point where a lot of replies to threads will just be "thats shit", or "scrap it", purely because the wheels fit properly.

    For example;

That to me, is perfect, but i can almost gaurentee that when the car reaches the main stream masses, a tonne of people will no doubt comment on arches, tyres and pot hole damage, which is a bit shit 'cause when you enter into this kind of game, you fully understand the risks and hopefully build around them. Personally, this is when it annoys me, when people are like "you must eat tyres", no, my alignment is spot on thanks, and my tyres will just as long if the camber was 0 rather then -3.5, kthxbye.

To be fair, by the looks of it, on that Acura forum around 90% are people who cold call people and ask them if they want life insurance, come home to their wife who reads poetry to their 25 year old son who can't bare to leave home, so i wouldn't worry about it.

    SimonF. UK to straya emigrant.

People speak negatively of something when they are incapable of understanding where another person is coming from or why someone would like what they do. They are unable to understand that some people find the stance aesthetic to be "attractive" and "desirable". Instead of accepting the fact that everyone perceives what's "good" differently, they hold the stance aesthetic up against their own personal normative values in regards to car modding. When their personal values lie in a car performing well at a track, or looking a specific way...it's obvious why they wouldn't like the way we mod our cars.

It's not jealousy either. These people truly don't like the same styling we do, so I doubt they wish they had our cars. They're happy with their cars modded to their preferences, just as we're happy with ours. They like their cars the best. We like ours the best. They just happen to not like our cars because they're not like their cars. It's not jealousy....just a difference in personal preference.

Some people are mature enough to accept that people like different things. They accept and respect others' view points even if it isn't in line with their own.....then there's the immature group who ignore all that and just post meaningless negative comments on the internet. Just ignore them and keeping doing what makes you happy.
fuckin thank you, that is the exact attitude all the members on HERE need to adopt.

get over it, theyre not jealous of your shit and they dont think your cool. Just accept that you have different tastes and be done with. We're not in kindergarden, theyre not picking on you because they like you.

I don't know about you guys, but all these "hellaflush" arguments and stuff have lmost ruined it for me. Especially on this local forum i'm on importsnc.com, All they do is argue about how gay hellaflush and the people who are into the scene like me are douches. it's almost like I **** beinf associated with "hellaflush" because of people like that. Like they generalize all 'hellaflush" guys with the douches on importsnc. I know that it doesn't generalize with EVERYONE in the world, But these are the people I meet up with at meets and stuff. All the cool people on here aren't local to me, And all the people around me generalize "hellaflush" with these couple of stuck up assholes, so I get looked upon as a stuck up asshole as well. I almost **** the word "Hellaflush" thanks to NC. Needless to say I quit going on there hahahaha

I don't mod my car like this to jump on the bandwagon or to hopefully get "approved," I enjoy it and that's all that matters to me. That's why I think it's important to respect everyones style, because they like it. I never understood how people could say stuff like "your car is ugly" instead of "not my cup of tea, but welcome." Why can't we ll be friendly? That's why I like it here

THIS. What makes the "stance scene" so cool, is that people are laid back and generally defy the typical car-enthusiast stereotype. This being an arrogant asshole with zero people skills who thinks that their car is the best and all others must measure up to it.

**** to break it to anyone with this mentality, but there will ALWAYS be a car far cooler then your own. On top of that, you are a intersection away from having it completely totaled, never to be the same again. While cars bring us together, it's the people that define a movement. If your open-minded and are a enthusiast, I don't care if your driving a yellow-neon with flower hub-caps ... actually that's a lie.. but you get what I mean.

StanceWorks is different because, for the most part historically, we check our egos at the door and it's created a great place for everyone to gather without pre-tense. Allow this attitude to spread virally and it will be a better future for all us. It starts with YOU though... the **** has to die with you. Don't inflame it, just brush it off and tell that same person how much you LIKE their car... you will be surprised the reaction you get

Well said. The way Mike approaches his cars is a perfect example of how it should be. People **** on what he does and even moreso his E28 but you don't see him basking in that glory, he just continues to do what he likes without responding to people calling out his car and such

As long as you're modding a car for you and not to please others, then fuck everyone else. It's that simple.

Oh the ironing. It seems that not many can realize, or honestly be mature enough, to accept a difference of opinion. I can't quite grasp why that is the case but it seems to be just the name of the game. You post a stanced car on a large forum with a very diverse crowd and get mixed reaction. Some negative, some super negative, some neutral and some will love it. Oh and some 'owner is gay' comment. Those that post a difference of opinion will be labeled as ****** and for some childish reason it will be posted on this forum and linked for everyone to make fun of those people.

Now someone joins stanceworks and post up their car. It is on coilovers. Nicely done. Has Linea Corse LM Reps. I find the irony here as this car will be ripped up with negative comments about the owner's choice in wheels. Is that ******? Or what exactly would that be called. Do you not see you are doing the same thing? Telling people they need more low. Telling them their 'fake wheels suck' and various other petty crap.

Does everyone not see how stupid that never ending cycle is? Learn to accept that not everyone is going to like you, your car, your wife, your house, your lawn and whatever else you have or plan to get. It would seem the best thing to do is to ignore the comments and move on but no one seems to be able to ever do that. This person attacks that person. That person attacks that person. Skinny jeans this. Meaty tires that. Then a thread dedicated, or an attempted dedication to make fun of stance/hellaflush/etc? Yah... that'll teach those stance guys! In retort a thread dedicated to make fun of those making fun?

It's just a car. Don't have to be so serious. Don't have to look down on people for buying rep wheels. Don't have to make assumptions about people because of their wheel fitment. Don't see why there is always this sort of rift in the car game. Every 'side' is guilty. No one is to blame more than the other. Doesn't seem that hard to just get along. We are all guilty. I used to have an opinion and stated it, many times negative, and it just isn't worth the time to type of a negative comment/personal attack. If you don't like it move on. Really is quite simple.

The real problem is the 'hardcore blind biased' supporters of each group. The Purist. The OEM+. The track guy. The stance guy. Etc. If you go overboard in any those genres it is lame. The E30 M3 owner that says your ruined your E30 M3 by putting an S52 in it is just as bad as telling someone with reps that your wheels suck. Taking it to the extreme is just creating a bias that shouldn't be there. We all dump stupid money in our cars. Some like wide wheels with skinny tires and some rather slap on some big tires and hit the track. Accept it. Love it. Enjoy the car scene more...

everyone has their own taste. i dont see any point in ****** on someone elses. typically im vocal about what i do and dont like about peoples cars, but i try to come across in more of a constructive manner than a **** style one.

I think a big deal with being labled as a "*****", is the way a person comments on someone's thread, tone wise. If you respond negatively in a mean way, you get a negative response, and then someone will "+1" on the negative quote and it snowballs. A little cordiality from others goes a long way if you ask me.
