Thanks! Yeah, snow isn't an issue here.

I have a small update. I bought some temporary tires to fit on my wheels so that they don't rub my bumper up front. They seem like they're a cheapo brand, but that's why they're temporary until I re-lip my wheels. Bye bye 215/40. Hello 35s. By the way, if anyone fairly local wants some brand new 215/40, message me. I'm in Jacksonville, FL.

Oh, and the car is going to be in Hot Import Nights next weekend.
    Still a shit sandwich.....

The way I see it, sacrificing awd for camber is not an equal trade off. Maybe spend the motor building money on getting the rear end situated (longer axles) then just go smaller on the engine build.

But hey I'm just a dumb ass with a broken bmw and overdue tuition bills haha

longer axles wont fix the issue, excessive camber will cause them to bind regardless of length, either that or they will pull themselves apart, there is really no happy medium. it took me a sec to catch that...

the only solution is to lower the rear diff/subframe somehow, but then it just snowballs into a myriad of other problems. in this case i think FWD convo makes sense.

This. As mentioned before, regardless of axle length, they're going to bind. However, lowering the diff and it's subframe wouldn't help me regardless because it's creating problems such as more CV play and it will still negatively contribute to the binding issue. Not to mention, smashing the rear end off of the ground and blah blah.

A friend of mine is going to be buying my swift 14k and 16k springs and I'm going to be going with 16k and 22k spring rates so that I can eventually go back to being flush and not having to worry about my rear fenders grinding away at my wheels. I am pulling the rears just to the point where my wheels will not hit my fenders under compression. Once I get my 4.5" lips to replace the 3.5", I'm going to pull that camber and run a flush setup. This will of course be after the drivetrain conversion and springs.

I feel as if 22k isn't going to cut it with having 1/4" gap between the wheel and fender. But that's why there is trial and error.

Mods, since I have been turning this into a build-type thread, feel free to move it to the build section if you'd like.

Honestly the whole FWD conversion thing isnt making a whole lot of sense to me either but you going FWD doesnt have any impact on my life at all. One thing I learned from reading this thread is that this forum is filled with a bunch of dicks. LAWL

I don't have any crazy updates at the moment. I am going to have the smaller tires put on tomorrow. I am also going to be pulling the rear quarters out just enough to where the wheels wont hit the fender under spring compression when hitting bumps. The pull will be fine anyway since I'd have to do it to fit the new lips anyway.

No snags on the rear end yet. Waiting to get rid of it as I want the money from that to cover the conversion. Being that it's "that time of year", my pockets are about empty from buying everybody stuff for Christmas.

Oh and my driver's side head is on. Powder coating the valve covers and slapping the cams and cover and that side is done. I am waiting on a new ARP stud to come in tomorrow and the other head will be going on. Realistically, I could have the engine in tomorrow night. But I am going to wait until it's day time.

I will post some pictures of the engine going in. Then my feature shoot might take place on Saturday morning before the car is in Hot Import Nights.

Did you put the money into the built motor, or was that a PO? I can't imagine you can put that power down with so little contact area. It's very striking, and a thoroughly built car, but I'm a little doubtful that it could hold its own against a similarly equipped LGT.

All of the work done to this car was by myself. I built the engine 2 winters ago before I dropped it on it's face. It had function back then. I built it for higher power goals and then I ended up changing my mind for more reliability. I put that power down before the stance. And I've gone head to head with an STI that had 295whp and pulled pretty hard. On corners, I definitely won't stand a chance. But straight lines aren't a hassle for me.

So I worked on the whole car and engine all day and got everything finished. The rear quarter needs some work since it's all baconed up.

I drop the engine in tomorrow and the break-in begins. *excited*

I should also be ordering my spline lock and plate for my trans to delete the center diff and rear end real soon. But don't hold your breathe. This Christmas shopping has dented my wallet.

Blah blah blah. Complainers are going to complain. Would I do this conversion? No. Do I think it is interesting? Yes. Do I like the way your car looks and what you have planned? Yes.

Keep up the great work and don't let people bother you with their cookie cutter recommendations
