Yup, I can't handle them. I went for an hour long drive yesterday and I had a headache from the drone.

Luckily, I stumbled upon a killer deal on a set of Fabspeed mufflers on Craigslist yesterday so I picked those up for about half the price of a brand new set, so I'll be installing those next weekend.

I also met up with John (the old owner of the car yesterday) and he hooked me up with a front strut tower bar, so that should help stiffen up the front a hair.

The bypass pipes do sound great and there's no better way to drop 50+ lbs off the rear of the car where weight loss counts the most, however you're correct that they are rediculously loud.

I've got a set for the GT3 in the garage that I haven't even managed to motivate myself to mount for track days, let alone the street.

I'm convinced that cat delete + aftermarket mufflers is the way to go. Most aftermarket mufflers will save you 10lbs per side plus cat delete saves another 20. Nearly the same weight loss, get a few HP from cat delete plus it's a managable sound level all the time.

Do a search for "996 muffler bypass" on YouTube. None of the videos really convey how ridiculously loud it is though.

Oh the ridiculoud exhaust, I remember when I had one, but it had an electronic by-pass valve so It was manageable. I loved it.

Installed the GT3 muffler bypass pipes today. Turns out the exhaust tips on the C4S are in a bit different spot than on a regular Carrera, so I had to shorten them a bit, no big deal though.

The car is pretty much straight piped now since this "exhaust" is basically tips that attach to the catalytic converters. And it is LOUD. It sounds totally badass and pissed off, but it's seriously LOUD. I think the best word to describe it would be "ridiculoud".

New exhaust on the top, old exhaust on the bottom.

It did shave about 50 pounds off the rear end of the car though, so that's nice.

Not sure how long I'm gonna be able to handle this setup, it drones pretty bad.

    Man, I miss her already.

Glad to see she's found a good home. Here's a rolling shot from the Leavenworth drive last summer.

PS, don't mind some of those stains in the carpet

always nice to see more Porsche's here, looking forward to more updates on it.

Mine is not even remotely worthy of being posted on this board though, just a regular old track rat.
