FMICs for B5 S4s have two inlet's outlets because of they layout of the engine/turbos.
The intercooler is essentially two long intercoolers connected together at the middle. The bottom left pipe is the passenger side turbo inlet, and the bottom right pipe is the outlet. On the top half, the top left is the outlet because the drivers side turbo is feeding it from the top right inlet. It would be a lot of extra plumbing to make both turbos use the same side of the intercooler as an inlet.
