Some damn good paint jobs in here, the dark red accord is <3.

I spray bombed my winter rims, I just don't have pics of them. They look pretty good though.

I did my snomobile windshield last winter, from this:

    to this:

I <3 Satin black, same color I painted my rims.

I'm a paint and body student, I just never took any pictures of any of the projects I have done. I've done my rear bumper, bumpers for other cars, hoods, quarters, and recently painted an 87 Pontic Grand Prix Audi TT orange. Turned out really well. I <3 painting, its all good prep work.

Its not too bad... Its 2 medium coats and it done... You have to becareful when spraying to keep it wet and even coverage or else it'll tigerstripe...

Never tried to wet sand it... No need to if shot correctly. Plus I think that would ruin the overall finish that naturally occurs with the product...

Ya, usually you can't sand a flat finish. I was just curious since it was a one stage. Idk why that would make a difference...

The paint you buy will tell you the mixing ratio.

The best way to learn using a gun is to use it. Go to a junkyard and get an old hood or something big to practice on. Get some cheap paint, learn to mix it, do the prep work on the spare hood, then spray your base coat and clear coat.

Single Stage paints are nice and easy, but it sprays way different.

The best tip my teacher ever gave me when spraying clear coat was:

"You have to spray it how you want it to look."

When spraying a base coat, light coats is the key. Clear is a different ball game. If you go to fast it'll be dry and you'll have to wetsand and buff the shit out of it, and if you go to slow it will sag. There is a happy medium, and that's what takes time to learn.

also if your can of paint doesnt have the info you need on the side, you can either go to the paintstore or go online to get a Technical Data Sheet. this will tell you what materials your paint can be sprayed over, what pressure and needle size is recommended, what can be sprayed over the paint, how many coats/film build, drying times and what ratios you can use. its super helpful and free. also i agree with getting an old hood or something to mess with, being smooth is what you want to teach your body to do, like same distance from the panel and consitant speed. after awhile you can "feel" what the paint is doing without even having to look. i still find myself having fun every time i spray, i love it
