Anyone have suggestions on a decent looking, reliable car for around $2gs? I'm probably just going to get whatever I can find until I can get some more cash flow to completely go through this car. Even if it doesn't necessarily need it I would feel more comfortable to do so. I want this to eventually be completely restored.

The 2 chrome pieces are attached to an inside bumper. youll need that also..

shipping that will be a little more difficult and expensive

Anyone got an opinion on a Lexus Ls400? I hear nothing but good things about them. I have seen tons of them with anywhere from 125,000-225,000 miles selling for around $2-3gs. I'm really diggin 'em. With a nice exhaust the V8 sounds amazing.

In NL lexus GS400 is exclusive and not much sold... due to the taxes in NL and BIG fuel consumption.

About the bumper.. i saw yesterday that there is a big rust hole in.. so i think you can better forget my euro bumper.. (if you want to build it ratstyle it will be oke for that purpose)

Good luck looking for the BIG lexy.

I'm still looking. It looks like it's between a Lexus Ls400, or a Volvo (240, 960, 850). I love the engine of the lexus, but not so much the fuel economy, and the looks aren't too great. The volvos I like the gas mileage and looks better, but I am not sure how reliable they are or if parts are going to be a cost issue. Plus they have a very limited suspension selection. From what I have heard they are pretty reliable, but I have never experienced one. It will probably come down to what I can get the best deal on.

Thanks for the offer on the bumper. I will probably just keep my eyes out for one, or come up with some kind of solution including fabrication =].

BTW, nice 200. Love the red interior.

[QUOTE=Geschlecht;227044]Ya. It is my first. So far it looks like I'm fucked too. I should have looked it over better before I bought it. The body and interior being in such good shape just got me too excited, along with it being a rare 4 speed. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. On top of the clutch failing it looks like the engine is leaking oil. I think I might buy my grandpas 80's caprice 4 door off of him and daily it for now and just work slowly on rebuilding or swapping the engine and transmission. I am still happy with it. It will be lookin good before long.

This caprice is what has made me really want one. Idk if it's just me, but this thing looks pretty siq. My grandpas is white with a grey top im pretty sure. Just drop it and put some staggered Impala SS rims on it. Maybe put some of that mind yo business on it too.

you will be fine man, its an old car, you can expect eveything to be perfect
                    - oil leek are common on these old deisels, i'm lucky i found one w/o any oil leeks at all, it just had a nasty tranny leek but after replacing the front pump and main seal, it was all fixed !

these cars go forever man, they were built like tanks and and as long as you take care of it, you can still DD this car over 500k miles with no major engine problem

where is the oil leeking from

Sweet car man. How many coils did you cut? I'm about to do mine.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue even how many miles are on this. It isn't in AS good of condition as it looks but it is decent. I think it is leaking oil from possibly the valve cover and possibly from the main seal on the where the tranny connects. I have really been thinking about not buying something else and just fixing this up with the money I have. I just absolutely love this car. I need to either get my a/c compressor rebuilt of find a new one. It will suck not having a/c in texas. I looked at a few cars today and was really digging this Volvo 850, but it is nothing compared to my benz still.

I am definitely going to have to drive her about 100 miles a day. So, i dont know only time will tell i guess.

I might finally get this fixed this week. I was thinking of buying something else for now, but the longer I wait the more I want to just fix this and drive it. I am going to have to get the a/c working too. I hope that won't be too much of a task.
