So the oil pans on these cars hang pretty low, huh? I haven't really looked it over good yet, but I want to slam it, and it still be able to get over some speed bumps.

frame rails are my biggest enemy. look at some of the profile shots of my car and you can see them hanging down - they are the lowest point on the car (barring exhaust which could be raised/moved).
I mean I worry about catching the pan, but my experience has been that speedbumps it misses the pan but catches every bit of the frame rails-Dictated but not read to expedite report.

honestly, the steering rack and associated arms and joints probably hang lower than my pan-Dictated but not read to expedite report.

Ok. My truck had the engine and control arm crossmember that hung lower in the front than the frame rails by about 1/2". Before I was even on air bags I had scraped so much it was even. Then I had much fun railing my truck down the highway. Dragging frame, no fagget ass trailer balls. haha. My plan was to drag doors, but I ended up selling it before I did a whole lot more.

I'd suggest not cutting 3 coils at once. Because there were aheap load of different springs with different rates depending on your complectation. So one can acheave the same drop by cuting 1.5 coils while the other might need to cut 3. So I suggest Comes from experience I've got with cutting springs on w123.
Also if you get a compressor tool, you will turn a whole day job of cussing and sweating into 2hr job, tops.
Also seeing what you want to achive, I'd suggest cutting 1.5-2 coils all round and co from there. Also I think there are rubber pads on the springs, and they varry by thickness, depending on how manny pimples they have on the edge (1-4). So you might consider getting a slimmer pad and less coils cut...

Got my bumpers off, been cleaning her up, and then I found that my clutch problem was not the master or slave cylinder, but the clutch pedal bracket cracked. So when you try to push the clutch the crack just opens and it doesn't engage. I'm going to try to weld it back and cut the springs today if the rain stops. I might be able to get her running a lot easier than expected.

Thats mike's i am pretty sure. I don't really like the look of no bumpers, but it beats DOT bumpers. I might try to make some custom ones or try to trim up the DOT bumpers to look decent. Idk yet. Really just trying to get this thing reliable first.
Tomorrow I am going to weld up the clutch bracket and maybe cut the springs. If it doesn't rain as much as it has all weekend anyways. My only thing is that I am still a little leery of the engine in this thing. I mean it runs good, but it is burning and leaking oil, and smoking quite bad. I need to change the oil and do a valve adjustment and it should be running quite a bit better. I really love how easy these cars are to bag. If I can get this thing running great without too much money being put in, then there will be a lot happening soon =].
