i probably won't be doing any more sanding on the LMs, i'll be giving them to someone else to sand and polish because with the rate of time i spend on those wheels, i won't have them ready by SW Melbourne meet.

That one wheel alone took me over 10 hrs of work

so i've currently taken on another project

had some BBS RS 16x8.5 +14 arive from Japan 2 weeks ago, so i went to work on these

    Bolts removed

The 68 nuts and bolts + 2 stem valaves

one of the nuts will definitly need replacing as i was lucky to just be able to unscrew it, it just kept slipping off and rounding as it was badly rusted

    BBS Stack

I felt hungry today and decided to cook up some wheels

The weapons of choice for splitting wheels

    Ta-da!!!

    Got Dish?

    16x12 -30 LOL

so i've been working on one of the LMs and here is the progress

after sanding it with 180 grit, 240 grit, 600 grit and 1200 grit they came up pretty good, although they look brushed, coz i didn't polish them.

    maybe not new

i'm thinking of running rear inner and outer barrels bolted to the front centers for some 17x9 +12 fitment
and for the rears it would be inner front barrels with rear centers and some new 1" wider(3" or 2.5") lips for some 17x9 -4 fitment

i'm hopping to be running LMs on the 26th

The RS's will probably end up going for a rebuild

i need to get one of the front barrels welded as it has a hairline crack and the outer lips have copped a bit of a hard time on the front
i had a tire pop off the bead while drifting and i ended up sliding sideways on lip
i once tapped a gutter with the front wheel sideways and i also got another dint recently from a pothole

i also quickly reassembled the wheel centers in the position i would like to run them on the car with 4 bolts to hold them in place and measured the offset with a ruler, confirming that my calculations were correct, making them 9" +5 offset

    here is the result

other than that great work so far

i really don't like the visible line between the clear coat and the part i sanded and quickly polished with a rag, so i think my only choice is to fully strip the clear coat and re polish the lips

there is also a slight 0.5mm step in the lip between the clear coat and the part i sanded, which i will also need to sand down when i get some more abrasive sandpaper, 100grit should do
i can't see pictures in this post and the one before it
