  • Static JDM to bagged Euro

Hey guys, some might remember my previous thread about my Mitsubishi Galant

I put the car back to 100% stock and sold it because I bought a basic af Jetta. My first brand new car, my 5th overall because I like to buy cars and sell them apparently

It's a 2.slow 5 speed, but I can't complain due to the great gas mileage compared to the galant

Once the galant was sold I told myself I would wait and just drive the car as it was and be a responsible adult... yeah right. Just 2 weeks later I got a great deal through SSeuro for Airlift slam series with 3p management, WCI MT10 wheels and tires

Of course not everything goes to plan and I waited for about 2 months for the wheels after receiving the air ride just to be told the tires were on back order. This was completely out of SSeuro's hands, so he cut me a deal and significantly reduced the price to compensate for the lack of tires.

I had a lot of thoughts for a trunk set up, with my original idea being a false wall to hide everything. Turns out my wonderful girlfriend's mother had a Gucci bag laying around that she apparently doesn't realize the value of, soooo I kindly asked for it and she agreed!

I'm going to use the bag to hold the management and harness, with everything bolted to a wood floor that I will have hinged so I can still access the spare tire. I'll carpet the floor to match for now, hardwood may be in the future

I also bought some Powergrid adjustable sway bar endlinks from Bag Riders and brackets from Under Wraps Automotive. Honestly not too sure how to even get the brackets onto the struts but I guess I'll figure it out eventually. I'm not too keen on cutting out my sway bar (yet) so a frame notch won't be necessary (yet). That will probably come when I graduate, since I don't want to hurt the feelings too bad of the dealership when I get it serviced

Shameless plug of my wheels still for sale

Trunk setup is almost complete, just need to cut one more hole in the floor and add carpet, then 3 holes in the bag! I didn't have the compressor with me during the mock up, but it will be to the right of the bag

i'm not going to hinge the front section, I'll just be able to lift it up and remove it for access to the spare tire, which I can easily get in and out of the car.

The entire floor is raised on .5" risers so the air line can exit through the bottom of the bag and out of the grommets under the spare tire, which is lifted up by 2"x4" we pieced together into a square.

Carpet has been ordered and should be here tomorrow

Got a bunch of little things done in the past week.
I finally sold the RS's so that was some nice change that allowed me to get the rest of what I needed.

First off, tires came in!! 225/40 Nankang NS-20 through Discount Tire Direct

Got a couple things that I think will help with the install, rubber clamps and some wire loom to help avoid rubbing and keep the lines in place

Got some rubber feet for the compressor because I don't even want to know how it would sound rattling on the wood floor

Got the floor carpeted!!! I took my time to get it done as neat as possible and I think it looks great. It fit's perfectly in the grooves in the trunk and the carpet luckily matches pretty darn well. I was worried because I ordered the stuff online with almost nothing to reference it to except a not-so-great picture of the color.

A pic of the grommets for the air line and power lines for the manifold. There's another grommet for the compressor power lines and then I cut a slit for the plug that goes to the controller

That's it! Next Friday I'll be taking it to the shop to get things rolling, hopefully take off the stock suspension at least and then pick it back up on Saturday or Monday, depending when the owner decides to let me back in

I figured it would clean it up and I didn't want to have tooooo many tears in the bag. They're super easy to use, and there's instructions on the box. A caveman could do it

Of course less than a week away I find out I need some random tools and bolts I don't have, cue frantic tool ordering on Amazon and ECS Tuning. I've read there's some problems with shipping from ECS so I may just go to the VW dealership and hopefully they have available the bolts I need (lower strut bolts). Luckily the tool I need has Amazon prime shipping so I'm not too worried about that

Put all the fittings on the tank so that's ready to drop in. I'll get the wiring for management done tomorrow after work. Friday I'll begin taking everything off and everything should be buttoned up on Saturday!
