MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE CANDY FAMILY

By the way, my pressed plates arrived and I'm absolutely chuffed with them.
Shame it's too dark to put them on now.
      I'll post pictures tomorrow.

So my pressed plated just happened to turn up on xmas day when I was at work, so my brother found it funny to wrap it and chuck it under the tree.

I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the plates and service, they came a day after they were printed and I was always updated on what was going on. If anyone is interested in picking a set up you can get the link HERE

Much much cheaper than the ones you can get made at shows and they are identical.

I think it's fair to say I needed them, the plates I had on before were not only different fonts to each other, but different sizes and mouldy basically everywhere.

The rear ones also had an ugly number plate holder which I was desperate to get rid of too.

The screws were rusted to shit as well.

I just hope to god this sticky tape holds

And of course I could not leave you guys without a before and after

Now I'm really tempted to de-badge the rear, which I wasn't before.

I'll leave it for the time being and I'll see how I feel next week.

Also, I got a whole box worth of Auto Finesse stuff, when the weather lightens up a little I'll give it all a proper wash and feedback what it's like, and then t-cut the hell out of it seeing as there are at least 15 scratches on each body pannel.

Right so last night I tackled the radio.

I was messing about with the options and it turns out I actually have some nice speakers, the bass is chuncky and the quality is nice to match.

Turns out I can also change the colour of the display and all. I know Blaupunkt made good radios, but I didn't expect this one to be any good as it's a 2003 model if I'm not mistaken.

Then I saw there was USB and MP3 written along the top, so I had to investigate.
I remember I could never unclip and take of the actual radio itself, so I knew something was up from the day I got it.

I was lucky enough to still have the manual for the radio, and I noticed in here it says the radio folds down to reveal a CD player and a memory card slot!!

Now the button to get this bad boy working didn't work. I decided to go at it with a knife and to simply pull the shit out of it.

              I found this

Now I have no idea what it is, but it looked like melted plastic which stuck the radio down to it's hub.

On the left, there was a sponge which was half melted

I presume the old owner ended up closing an air filter sponge thing in the radio by accident, which fell down from the air vents directly above the radio. This happened to me on the driver right hand side when I got the car, some weird sponge like material came out of the air vents.

Anyway, I guess that got trapped there and got hot and melted. (Or someone tried to repair the thing before and their usage of glue went terribly wrong haha)

Anyway as a result, the radio got stuck down and the motors which brought the thing up and down didnt work.

Now the plan was to get a new head unit for my Birthday which is coming up, but I really like this sort of period correct look to the whole radio and I think the fact it comes down to reveal a CD player is just real awesome. Plus it changes colour

So the radio stays, for now.

The next morning (today) I cleaned up the melted junk and got the motors working. This is the best I could do bearing in mind that shit it so sticky it's never all gonna come out.

The next problem is that the radio kept coming off every 500m or so, the light went off and it stoped playing. The clip on the left got destroyed by the melted stuff and theres no way I could fix it.

I got ambitious and thought maybe some sticky tape could fix it. Obviously it did not.

So now I had to make a choice, do I sacrifice the ability to take my radio off for the ability to use it? The answer is yes, so I got my self some super glue and stuck the thing in place, for good.

As you can see the thing lights up and moves up and down to reveal the CD player and memory card slot. I'm real chuffed with it and hope that the glue holds it in place well enough as I've not driven the car since sticking it down

Fixing old stuff > Getting new stuff

That sticky stuff is called Butyl.., it's used to seal stuff or keep things from rattling...

At work we use it all the time, if it's good enough for a jag or landrover,
                it must be good

Does Butyl harden when it's dry? Or does it stay failry squidgy because whoever used it on my radio made a right mess of it all

Can confirm my fix of the radio works grand, I drove the car about for a good 3 hours tonight and even over the deadliest of speed bumps it stayed in place.

                  Real chuffed with the job.

Gonna sort out an SD card with all my music tomorrow, fingers crossed it all still works well.

Getting coils now is the most tempting it's ever been, but I need to pay back my dad money he borrowed me for the car insurance.
So before I do any funky mods I should probably get my ass out of debt haha

Got another day off tomorrow so I'll see if I can figure out these god damn footwell lights again.

If you use it outdoors it'll sort of dry out a bit.., if it's used inside, e.g on a radio,
and its warm it'll gets super squidgy...

So I have a deadline sort of thing. Early Edition takes place on the 24th of April and me and my friends are keen to attend, so that is when I want the car looking cool enough to at least take me to a show haha

                            Anyway....

So it lasted me about 3 days.

It fell off when I was home, so I managed to grab it off the floor.

My front bumper is in an absolute state so the tape just didn't hold properly :/

I'm a lucky guy it didnt come off when I was driving

Some scratches but I'll fix that later

Decided to treat myself and my close ones to some bigger christmas presents, so had no money for the GTI's in the end

I found a place which do BBS Pininfarinas in my price range, I'll be looking into it in late January and I'm really happy with the wheel so I'll most definitely be going for those

Thank you mate, apart from the typical 6n2 problems (gearboxes made of cheese) I'm really chuffed with it. great little car and the 16v is rapid for a 17 year old like me

Your 6n was real nice, but knowing life you wont be able to keep it just a daily and you'll end up doing stuff to it haha

                            -

                            SEE YOU NEXT YEAR GUYS

Your wish is my command! Got a new suspension setup whilst at it too

                                MmmmMMMMmm that fitment!

Day before that happened before that happened my indicator fell out, then noticed the flat on my way to work the next day

Sad times Literally have no idea how the thing fell out but I was doing about 60 over a small big bridge, then I heard really lound banging.
I thought it was a tyre blowing, and presumed I was in a big mess since it was midnight when it happened and I wasn't too close to home

Got all of that fixed today, the guy couldnt find anything wrong with the tyre so he took it off gave it a good clean and put it back on.

Filled up my tires too, only paid the guy £15 so can't complain really, fingers crossed I dont wake up to a flat tyre again tomorrow!
Bolted the front plate back on too, need to go get hidden bolts for the front cause at the moment they are black and I need to screw the rear plate on too just incase.

On a more serious note some typical money stuff came up so it'll take me some more time to save up for wheels

So lucky me has some more time to decide on what to get. As if I've not had enough time already

Also, is anyone in the London area interested in a Photoshoot? The weather is slowly getting a bit more dry again and I've not taken an pics for the page in a while.

                                Cheers for reading
