    started a topic Ratty W123

    Ratty W123

So a few months back I decided to pick up a car to work on my fabrication skills and just all around learn any and everything I could. After a few weeks of looking I ran into a post on craigslist for a guy selling a 82 240D willing to barter, so I offered him my new tool box and 200 bucks. Before I knew it I was holding the keys and the title!! Then half way home it shut off I paid more for the Penske truck then I did for the car.

After getting the car home the question was what to do with it. After looking at other w123's that are out there I noticed that once they are laid out it become extremely noticeable that all the cars height is in the roof. So what better time to take my not so great fab skills to the next level and try my hand at a chop top.

    Playing with some tape

After reading hour and hours of stuff on chopping the top it was becoming obvious that having a spare roof would really come in hand. I saw a post about a parts car on craigslist so I gave him a call and was actually able to convince him to let me chop the roof off his car.

first time doing body work. I do not want to use any body filler on the car.

After getting the balls I made the first roof cut.

    mocked it up

Needed more so I ended up here

and that's where I am at now. Waiting for a break in the weather to get back to work
Working...
