Its a mix of mulberry and dove.

Sorry I havent updated in a while but I have gotten a few things done.

I pulled the passenger door card off the other night to adjust the window and fix a rattle, while it was off I decided to fix the cover that was coming off.

Started on some more maintenance this weekend, so its back on jack stands. I really need a lift.

      Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Started cleaning up the trans. Its obviously leaking a little but for now I changed the fluid, I also changed the trans mount and diff fluids. Ill have to throw some paint on the floor boards, but hey at least they arent rusty.

      Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

What project is complete without making a new tool. I couldnt get a socket on the fill plug on the trans.

      Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I almost forgot, I put the moldings on the front fenders before I went up on the stands.

      Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

On the menu for this week, engine mounts and fixing this. Yep leaking wheel cylinders, no wonder the brakes sucked. Mounts, rear shoes, and front pads should be in by Tuesday. I should have all of that taken care of by Friday.

New motor mounts went in last night. Old versus new.

          Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

          Installed.

          Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I couldnt get pics of the other side but they werent too hard to put on so I started on the rear brakes. That was going well until I noticed that I was sent the incorrect wheel cylinders.

          Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

So for now I am in a holding pattern while parts show up. I should have it all knocked out Thursday or Friday.

I cant believe I havent posted in this thread in over a year. Not much has changed, just some maintenance and enjoying the hell of it.

            Found a vintage tag.

And found some super clean all red tails in my spare parts bin, they will be installed soon.

I know its a boring up date but I have ordered a ton of parts in preparation of driving it to the vintage this year. Sadly, my employer is having our open house that same weekend so I wont be able to make it but I have decided to still fix a bunch of little stuff and I will post updates as it happens.

This car looks incredibly clean. I can't express how jealous I am. Not to mention your basement/ garage setup is something out of a vintage car catalog.

Great stuff, can't wait for more!

P.S. if I may express an opinion, I like the tri-color taillights better than the red/white for some reason. looks classier. Just my $.02

A little update I guess, I have a box full of parts on my dining room table for the 02. This is why I haven't installed them....

                          Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I took the M to my friends shop to bleed the clutch and while it was on the lift, I noticed the flex disc was bad.

                          Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

That turned into dropping the exhaust and rebuilding the shifter, which would be done if ECS didn't ship stuff with FedEx Smartpost. FedEx Smartpost, all the cost of FedEx with the "oops we lost your shit" of USPS. The parts will be here Thursday, almost a week to go from Ohio to Ga. Anyway.....

In the mean time, I was having issues with the drivers side brake light contact so I picked up a set of tails on ebay. The chrome is in great shape so I polished it up and popped in the all reds, I cant wait to get them on car.

I also took it for a cruise on Sunday and found a van...

I got some work done this weekend. I had to get the car ready to make the hour drive up to Caffeine and Octane on Sunday so I started with a little mechanics helper.

                            Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Once I was well lubricated I tackled replacing the hoses between the brake res and master, along with the 90 degree bends and grommets around them. I needed the beer for this, those grommets were a nightmare.

                            Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Then I installed a new gas pedal since mine detached itself while driving the other day. I need to clean up some wiring.

                            Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

On Saturday, I finished up the install on the red tails, gave it a good cleaning, and a once over to make sure it was ready for the show.

                            Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

And the next morning, it made it to the show and back with out issue.

I love this little car, I have never owned anything that got so many thumbs up, smiles, and waves before.

Wow I haven't posted in this thread in a while and work is slow so I guess I could do an update.

Shortly after the last update I switched the 73 bumper mounts out for earlier ones, they pull the bumper in just a little.

                              Before.

I also mounted a Mercedes license holder that moved the tag down a little.

In Nov of 2017 I started an addition on my house which caused me to move out for a few months, so not much happened. We did use it to pick up a Christmas tree.

                              Gave it a valve adjustment.

Hit up a car show or two.

Got married..... The car was a hit at the wedding.

                              Went to more shows.

IMG_5847 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And finished the addition and more importantly the garage.

IMG_6006 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Once my garage was finished and the lift was installed at my dads shop, I was able to get a lot of work done.

That brings us up to Nov 18.. With the lift installed I took the opportunity to take care of some maintenance. I started by re-bushing the suspension.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

                                Then I corrected the paint.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

While doing the bushings I noticed the pedal box was trashed so I tracked one down, ordered a bushing kit and went about rebuilding it.

Yes, there is some frame rail rust, and some damage in the fender. I treated everything with rust converter and I will have to address the hole in the frame rail soon. As for the damage.....its a driver quality car, maybe some day I will restore it.

I installed the new pedal box.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I also put in new shocks and struts but I have misplaced the photos. Jan of 2019, I made the trek to Greer Sc for the finale of the Icon exhibit. I couldn't resist a photo op in front of the Zentrum.

The full thread about this trip can be found here.

After spending 600 plus miles in the car, it was clear the interior needed some attention. I sourced some uncut door cards locally.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And started to gut the interior. I always ***** the crappy stereo and poorly installed speakers so I began the process of removing them.

                                Who does this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I used some T-88 structural epoxy to repair some issues on the rear cards.

IMG_6875 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And then made a new package tray out of some hardy board.
