I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread..nicely done!
Clean E36 as well, very similar to mine. Tan interior?
Its a mix of mulberry and dove.
Sorry I havent updated in a while but I have gotten a few things done.
I pulled the passenger door card off the other night to adjust the window and fix a rattle, while it was off I decided to fix the cover that was coming off.
Started cleaning up the trans. Its obviously leaking a little but for now I changed the fluid, I also changed the trans mount and diff fluids. Ill have to throw some paint on the floor boards, but hey at least they arent rusty.
On the menu for this week, engine mounts and fixing this. Yep leaking wheel cylinders, no wonder the brakes sucked. Mounts, rear shoes, and front pads should be in by Tuesday. I should have all of that taken care of by Friday.
I couldnt get pics of the other side but they werent too hard to put on so I started on the rear brakes. That was going well until I noticed that I was sent the incorrect wheel cylinders.
I know its a boring up date but I have ordered a ton of parts in preparation of driving it to the vintage this year. Sadly, my employer is having our open house that same weekend so I wont be able to make it but I have decided to still fix a bunch of little stuff and I will post updates as it happens.
This car looks incredibly clean. I can't express how jealous I am. Not to mention your basement/ garage setup is something out of a vintage car catalog.
Great stuff, can't wait for more!
P.S. if I may express an opinion, I like the tri-color taillights better than the red/white for some reason. looks classier. Just my $.02
That turned into dropping the exhaust and rebuilding the shifter, which would be done if ECS didn't ship stuff with FedEx Smartpost. FedEx Smartpost, all the cost of FedEx with the "oops we lost your shit" of USPS. The parts will be here Thursday, almost a week to go from Ohio to Ga. Anyway.....
In the mean time, I was having issues with the drivers side brake light contact so I picked up a set of tails on ebay. The chrome is in great shape so I polished it up and popped in the all reds, I cant wait to get them on car.
I got some work done this weekend. I had to get the car ready to make the hour drive up to Caffeine and Octane on Sunday so I started with a little mechanics helper.
Once I was well lubricated I tackled replacing the hoses between the brake res and master, along with the 90 degree bends and grommets around them. I needed the beer for this, those grommets were a nightmare.
In Nov of 2017 I started an addition on my house which caused me to move out for a few months, so not much happened. We did use it to pick up a Christmas tree.
Yes, there is some frame rail rust, and some damage in the fender. I treated everything with rust converter and I will have to address the hole in the frame rail soon. As for the damage.....its a driver quality car, maybe some day I will restore it.
I also put in new shocks and struts but I have misplaced the photos. Jan of 2019, I made the trek to Greer Sc for the finale of the Icon exhibit. I couldn't resist a photo op in front of the Zentrum.
