Driver Found - mkII GTI VR6

    [QUOTE=ArclitGold;95566674]Let's see em!

So I removed the helpers today and gained an additional 1/4 inch of lows up front.

    Helpers in

    Helpers Out

Also, here is a rear shot of the camber before and after the shims.

    Before Shims

    After -2.5 degree shims installed

Also, I have never really posted interior pictures. I used my carpets from my mkv because I am using monster mats in my Jetta, they actually fit perfectly and the charcoal color suits the interior well.

    Other interior shots

Finally some new pictures of the fitment, can't wait to get the front aligned.

And a little something special- I have been trying to source a set of BBS special anniversary design line caps. I finally gave up and had someone make me a set. They actually turned out really really well just need to find out how to fit them. The quality is superb.

If you have a custom centercap request hit up @sinisbuilt on Instagram the guy is a wizard.

You can see the gold outline here.

Finally, it's small and stupid but I replaced my rear badge with an OEM chrome one, it fits the new wheels much better.

Should have the alignment done and the new bumper fitted in the coming weeks, at that point I think I will be happy with the state of the car for spring and summer driving.

    Cheers.

With my recently repaired ACL it's hard to get down low and work on the car.

A good friend came over yesterday to help install the camber shims. The quality of the shims are awesome. I also bought an extended hardware kit with a dual washer system to allow the shims to seat properly with the added camber. I highly recommend a kit from Lella auto sport if you are looking to dial in your rear suspension.

Here is a pic of the install in progress and some beer I drank. The plan is to level the front out tomorrow by removing the front helper springs, then I should have it on an alignment rack later in the week.

At that point the suspension will be sorted, then the car will need a good detail and it should be ready for summer driving.

I will post more pictures tomorrow.

    great

I ordered custom camber plates for the rear from Lella Autosport, I needed -2.5 degrees of camber in the rear so I don't rub I left the toe alone at zero, I could most likely fix the rubbing issue with smaller tires and no camber, but I like having a 50 series sidewall, more meat, smoother ride etc.. I didn't want to cheap out and stack washers and I am un-trusting of stacking plastic camber shims.

The Lella plates are CNCed and I ordered a hardware kit they recommend when exceeding -1.5 degrees. It should be about 2 weeks until I receive the finished products. In the meantime there are plenty of small thing I need to fix. Its nice that it is finally warmer here in the mid-atlantic making working on the car much more bearable. However, my wife is due in 4 weeks and I am recovering from ACL surgery, so getting in the garage may become more difficult.

Here is a link to the product if anyone else finds themselves in the same predicament- http://www.lellaautosport.com/alignment-shim.html

I Want to go lower up front but I am maxed out, however, I still have helper springs in.

Does anyone know if I remove them If that will allow me to go lower or if shocks are already bottomed out so it would be a fruitless endeavor, the coilovers are fk silverline plus x. I understand the concept of a helper spring and its relatively functionless purpose, the coils would function fine without them just need to know if I can gain a few millimeters. Thanks!

I am running NEXEN 175/50s on all four corners, they are still pretty meaty but I like it. I might downsize my front tires so the stretch matches a little better front to back.

Received the new grill in the mail.

Very satisfied with the outcome. The part came from heritage vw parts across the pond.

    Fits great.

It was raining today so it was a good time to clean up my work space before I leave the garage for the weekend to head to my house in the city.

Should have a few parts in this week so I can make a few moves on the mk2 next weekend before my ACL surgery next Monday, then there is no wrenching for awhile.

    Before

    After

It's not much but it's a nice space to do what I can on the mk2. There is a drive on lift to the left of my car that is not pictured. It's usually occupied by a beat to hell ford ranger.

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone.

What are you up to these days man, I remember running into you and your dad back at hunt valley cars and coffee when I had a mkv. Your dad had a very nicely restored beetle and you had the caddy.

    Still have the caddy?

Well here is an update.. Rimzos are on and bonus they fit.

Rears fit really well may need somewhere between a 5-10mm spacer up front for an absolutely perfect fit...

And I'll end it with some go fast goodness R32t making about 550hp that was at the shop
