Wow, WWWOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!! This rust is really bad! My son started driving not to long ago and wanted a 240 BAD! So when he found one that he said was really nice, we went and looked. The rust was so bad where everthing met the firewall that I was amazed that the car wasn't in two pcs. Needless to say he is driving a Celica now. Good luck with the rust repair....just take your time and make your buddy that looked at this pig nose work it out with you!!

I decided the best place to start was to fix some rust, not that there was that much to fix, but it just seemed right. So I got started fitting some metal to the existing holes...

Oh I forgot to mention, I started offering myself free welding lessons. I knew I was born to weld .I welded for half an hour, then realized I was ready.

Just a reminder what we're looking at...

When you're welding, do NOT clean the surface. Surprise the metal! Oh and the more the wire splatters, the better job you are doing.

On to dynomat removal... My brother and I were going to get dry ice and do it the easy way, but that'd make too much sense. Instead we decided to use a heat gun to get it all messy and then scrape it off. After you scrape the top layer off then you have to wire wheel the gooey adhesive off, but really it just spins it all over the car. You can also try using an air hammer like we did. Really you want to try anything that makes the least amount of sense in order to prolong the time you get to spend in the shop with your project car! We got it all out in only 3 weeks!

Side note: If you want keyless starts and no more wheel lock, take an air hammer to the ignition cylinder.

Took a break to goto the xgames

The adhesive that holds the plastic to the door is also a lot of fun. Good luck.

^^^^^For best stopping distances, you want to make sure you can keep an eye on your calipers and rotors while you're driving.

                            Started masking for paint.

Then got this bad boy welded up.

Got more steel ready for professional welding.

Oh, I almost forgot. You absolutely do not want the welds to penetrate into the metal. It's stronger if it barely joins the two surfaces.

Then my paint guy came and brought his supplies needed to paint the car.

Alright you got me, I'm also the paint guy
