... well its the truth and that's awesome! it was a brutal pull, zero absolutely zero traction and I couldn't believe it was happening. I was so pumped that the car ran so well. Thank you!

    UPDATE

trailered her up to New Jersey for a friday night drift party, ran amazing all night, oil pressure in check, same with coolant temps. Just needed larger tires in the rear, no traction to be found.

Watch the video on youtube instead of in this thread for big screen HD amazingness.

Also this is a raw file, so its more fun..

    Paul: "Hello?"
Usaa: "Hello Mr. Whitechocolate, this is blah blah blah from Usaa. We are calling to inform you there has been some suspicious activity on your credit card. We see you have just activated it today and you are already almost at you limit. We suspect that you are a victim of fraudulent charges."

    Let's get right into it!

    Tie rod boots

    bam

    suspension arms

    bam

annnnd i was driving in cold weather earlier this year... long story short, lower radiator hose blew off.

My rescue squad showed up with a screw driver ONLY and distilled water and

    ... IT BEGAN

yeah, had to pull the whole coolant system (screwdriver) in 20 degree weather

    ...a screwdriver only

    Standby for instagram photo shoot...

    Drift knob time

    bam

    holy rub batman

    results of the photoshoot

My friend Craig was coming down to visit me, so naturally I had to get the diff welded and get some new tires on to ruin some lives.

Before he got here I went ahead and took the diff off to go get it welded so it could be ready by the time it got here. I drove around all day looking for a mechanic to weld it, but nobody could do it.

I called every number on craigslist.

I was able to find 2lbs of cocaine on craigslist easier than somebody to weld my diff gears.

When he got here we loaded up my new tires in his cars and went to pep boys to get them installed. The old ones were still brand new, they were just a little too beefy, so I asked them to be careful when they took them off. 20 minutes later they brought me back two ruined tires that I can never use again. Thanks.

Pep boys = fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on me, fool me 3 times shame on me

^thats how we felt after pulling and then reinstalling the diff, and wasting the entire night in 20 degree weather, (pics below)

We wanted to go drive around that night so we hurried to install the diff and get the wheels back on. There aren't any pictures of this because were both suffering from frost-bitten fingers and we were struggling. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. It didn't help that the car jack broke and would no longer lift up and ended getting stuck under a car with no rear wheels. At about 1 am we finally got it stitched together and pushed Craig's car out of the way because the battery had died from leaving the headlights on so we could see what we were doing. Spent the rest of the night doing burnouts and such.

3 hours of sleep later we woke up and decided to go to cars and coffee in Annapolis. First we hit the car wash then headed to the bay. Even with lamborghinis, ferraris, corvettes, and supras, the 240 was a complete attention whore.

    ^ that's my bf craig ^

absolutely killed it, people were more interested in the 240 than the aventador next to it

After cars and coffee we went to another meet that was made up of mostly corvettes. Pretty uneventful meet besides the guy in the jacket talking endlessly about corvettes.

Left the meet looking for some lunch.

On the way there I hear a rattling coming from the engine bay and it was backfiring.

    Hell yes!!!! It backfires!!!!

Wait, why does it backfire? My favorite game. The "what's that noise" game.
We stop in the chipotle parking lot and look around. Eventually I realize that a couple bolts from the header were missing. The header was literally flapping around every time we did a pull. We couldn't keep driving like this, so we went to lowes to get other bolts. Only problem is we had no idea what size bolt to get or what the pitch of the threads were.
I nominated Craig as tribute to pull a remaining bolt out of the header with his bare hand (eventually I found a glove) so we could take it inside to compare it with the new bolts.

The headers were at least 1200 degrees

I helped as best I could..

    Craig, how hot's that header?

Drift knuckles and tie rods (inner /outer)

    bam

    gf helping/spying <3

replaced the silicone with fuel injection line

You're probably wondering how cold 20 degrees is..

    about that cold

the cold was ruining everything nice

moving on, more cars and coffee.. I officially have the bug

    yeah its straight piped...

freezing out, gf still gets up at 6am to drive to cars and coffee with me <3

    I'm adorable

bought a spare diff from a dude at a meet, still trying o get it welded up......

not bad for almost 30 years old and I guarantee that oil was NEVER changed

Prepping the new diff for welding and adjusting the angle some more

I ran into approximately over 9000 problems with the steering geometry. First the outer ties were too long, had to cut inners.
Then I took off the WHOLE steering rack and centered it with the added spacers.
Driving around with more angle right than turning left.
Realize that the spacers don't call for centering the rack.
Redo all of that. cut MORE off the tie rods. Finally get an alignment, but having insane rubbing issues. Frustrating.

    Moving on for now

So here's the story with the CXRacing exhaust from last post a few months ago:

    I installed it.

    It didn't fit.

    I called them.

    They said it fits.

I said I'm shipping it back.

They said, we won't take it back.

I told them I would kill their children.

    Jk I didn't.

I called the company that shipped it to me (Godspeed) and said take this POS back.

They said, we're a reputable company so we will.

    I said hell yeah.

And that's EXACTLY how that shit went down.

    F*%k CXRacing.

Had my bros at my local exhaust shop make a sick exhaust that would connect to SIKKY's shitty header exit location.

Told them I was the boss, like this:

    Pics below.

from there it goes to a muffler in stock location with dual exit pipes.. I'll find a pic

moved filter off wheel well to allow more angle and not because you guys were bitching about oil going every where when I change the filter pics below

made this dope sauce mount for the pcm under the "glove box" area

smoked this m3, seriously no chance

This was the m3 on its first and second pull against the 240

    exhaust cut out wiring!

    SO DIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cut bump stops off LCA for more angle

    holy angle batman!

found some spares in the tire graveyard at pep boys

    bam

drift spares starting to pile up

how the switches look for now, and yeah for those curious, I just replaced the key with switches. The switches replace what the key does throught it's revolution through the cylinder.

IGN is power to all accessories minus air etc.

FUEL is power to fuel pump and everything else like blower (even though I currently have nothing else that gets power besides the Walbro pump)
START cuts power to everything and temporarily routes power to the starter signal wire
The last switch is the cut out (electric exhaust valve)

    instagram

    alignment as of now

got an alignment and drove all the way back to WV to do work back at FAST UNK's race shop (350 miles) #reliable engine

We got ready and started pulling the motor for fun (I had a month off from work)

Then I broke the hell outta this.. yeah I figured it was the wrong tool too late

removing the pulley seemed like an easy project who knew it would cause me so much pain

my little bro always helping me in the shop no matter what

absolute marathon...... 5am: finally got it!!!!!!

clutch has 80k on it, idk what to look for... recal total car experience was 4 spray painted hub caps...

thanks amazon, how'd you know I only use each gap checker once?

    Pretty stuff yay

    bam

    correct pulley puller...

    SEX incoming

^steering column bushing and power steering restrictor fitting from turn one

So everything was pretty chill. I was hangin with my bro, we were making mad progress: installing the powersteering restrictor above and the kaaz 2 way that swapped out for my open diff because nobody would weld the damn thing for us. And yes I had to empty my piggy bank/ get another credit card for the kaaz 2-way.

Installing the clutch and 2 way was pretty straight forward.

    clean clutch
    align clutch
    torque clutch
    bellhousing
the lsd was not too bad either, just take the final drive gear off my stock open diff and put it on the kaaz 2 way

then onto the tranny cleaning the output shaft and the
slave cylinder, then attaching the lines... oh wait where are the special adapter fittings that connect my braided steel lines from clutch master to slave...

Then the worst possible thing always happens..

It's like things are going so well and then... INCEPTION!!!

We were having a bon fire out back..

We were using my empty parts boxes as starter fuel..

Then parts started coming up missing...

    Then I realized..

My bro made an electromagnet so we could start searching the rubble..

remember, these are custom swap parts that come from baltimore MD only. Theyre specific to the motor chassis combo that we're building

He found them 4 hours later

I was leaving the next weekend so we had them overnight the parts. Total parts cost: $25 Total shipping cost: $75 Total time lost: full work day

Headers came back from ceramic coating

    bam

    wrapped them for safety

ordered another pulley to fix my broken one

and then the magical pilot bearing...

This is how the tool looked when I rented it...

and five hours later after I got the bearing out...

yeah it actually took that long...

    that's AM

    rental tools

    heavy a$$ flywheel uuughnn ))))))

heavy for more crank inertia better for my needs

so upset I wont see this again

so the other pulley I ordered didn't fit and FINALLY I found the right one. You'd think they wouldn't be hard to find... PAINFUL experience

    aluminum steering bushing

we drove it back home from the shop in war machine mode, I absolutely love it like this. Looks so damn mean. It just wants to fight everything.

Also, now would be a good time to talk about my first time on LSD.

I mean driving with an LSD...

Anyway, left the shop, was making the turn to merge on the interstate like I always do in that car, forgot I swapped the rear end gears, rolled on throttle. After I was done being terrified, I realized for the first time we built a damn animal!

    also this happened

and then i traded the mx-5 for a tow truck

padre sayin goodbye as I head back to maryland for work^

    Maryland again:

time to get ready for the track

Also, this is probably a good time to mention that this build has gone full drift car, with road worthiness as a secondary, and looks as a dead last

In the above pics, I cut out the wheel wells and an area below the oil filter for the oil cooler hoses to attach the the sandwhich plate adapter. The adapter is also where the sensor went for the oil pressure gauge. I replaced the mason jar with a non glass over flow for safety, and routed all the hoses for dual oil catch cans. Figuring out the routing and adapting all the hose sizes took a week but it works well.

So, I've been struggling for months with rub up front, even cutting out the wells and getting spacers did not solve my problems, even raising the suspension an inch did not fix the problem. So I bought 2 new front wheels with a different offset and it finallllllly fixed the problem. Downside is they look horrible and I still had to keep the suspension raised an inch because the new smaller tire sidewalls lowered my car and the oil pan was 1 and 3/4 inch off the pavement.

    Story time

So I was driving down the interstate on my way home in the tow truck to see my family, (this was a month or so ago) when I see a company truck full of used tires.

The phone number is on the side of the truck.

I call, and say tell the truck to pull over so I can buy all those used tires.

Dude says, can't sell you the used ones but I have a warehouse full of new ones.

I, (lying) say, I have a race team and we go through 5 sets of rear tires a track day and we need more, and we currently get sumitomos for 75 bucks on tire rack.

He says, I've always wanted to get my guys to sponsor a race team. We can sell you Atrezzo's and Velozza's for 35 bucks a tire new.

I pick up 5 sets of new rear tires.

Then, for the first time since I've owned the car with the ls, I get the throttle cable the right length and I can actually open the throttle all the way.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I've been stuck with 75% ish throttle since I swapped it...

car fire due to starter touching wire, melty parts replaced and wire properly insulated now

gauges in!! and the mount is sick because it comes in and out easy to access the wires behind for the future

told you it was low, even raising the suspenion a whole inch in the front

and then I drive the car for the first time with full throttle capability.

    never go full retard

by the grace of the car gods, the curb missed my oil pan and radiator by a fraction of an inch. Both of those dude just barely went over top the curb, and the car only suffered a bent tow location and lower radiator brace. I was insanely relieved

I was practicing 3rd gear drift initiations for my first track day and got a really smooth line around some planters when I gave it too much throttle and it got traction.

    Scariest moment of my life.

The car immidiately changed directions straight for that massive curb.

I got on my flinstone 9000 series brakes and locked the fronts up for a good 100ft straight into the curb. Thank god I did not have airbags because I would've been fixing my broken face.

    #5ptharnessFTW

    my bedroom/garage

    my office

relocated the battery and this is just causing starting problems, car starts every 15th push of the button now. I have 100 million grounds and really nice 2 guage wire all around. Just to add to the list of problems.

    catch can hose routing

catch can after 25 miles of spanking it

spare wheels for all my rear tires.. not the coolest but they fit my offset/width/lug pattern needs

track day results... and some pics from the cannon videos (screenshots of paused videos)

The track day could not have gone better. I've wanted to hit that track ever since I was little and I've been a spectator for years. The weather was amazing, car ran absolutely perfect. Only went off track twice all day, spun maybe 6 times. By the end of the day I was laying down mean 4th gear passes.
