Ive cut my springs and the car rides almost factory . Stock 200k mile 30+year old struts too haha . Still stiff and it doesn't look like a granny car . Do it , you wont be mad.

As for the Momo adapter , I honestly have never heard of that issue . Is it a true momo adapter ? are you putting it on backwards ? Throw some pics up so I can see what your talking about . The Part # should work . However it may be for "airbag " equipped cars . Are you sure its a genuine momo hub ?

Hopefully i can explain this with the photos i have, but if you look at the spline in the adapter, it is receded into the adapter, and the spline on the steering column is receded behind the plastic around the column, and because of this the outer ring of the adapter hits the plastic way before it even comes close to sliding onto the spline.

And i know i am 16, but i think i am smart enough to know the way it goes on And it was ordered on amazon here [ame="http://www.amazon.com/MOMO-Steering-Wheel-Adapter-84-91/dp/B006HKMLHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422750639&sr=8-1&keywords=momo+e30+adapter+hub&pebp=1422750650158&peasin=B006HKMLHC"]Amazon.com: MOMO Steering Wheel Hub Adapter BMW 325e/es/I/is 84-91 E30 - Part # 2006-1: Automotive[/ame] according to amazon, the seller is momo.

have you tried to dissassemble the plastic peice that covers your ignition and stuff then slide your hub adapter on the spline then try and reassemble the plastic peice around the hub. that might work its worth a try if it can come apart. ususally there are 2 phillips heads screws underneath. im not sure because i have never molested a e28 but maybe just my thought.

Actually the seller isn't momo, but it seems pretty legit to me. The only other possible issue i can think of is the difference between fine and coarse spline. supposedly the part number #2005 is a coarse spline and #2006 is fine, but even still i am pretty sure 86 and up should have a fine spline so that takes me nowhere. Is there any way my car could have ended up being coarse spline even though it's an 86?

Modifications are needed for airbag models, i think. But I think airbag models were later years

its the wrong hub i think. i did the same thing on mine. i ordered this one, and returned it for the one that looks like this
and it works perfect in my e28.

Well that is a sample picture so that may not actually be it. But i think i am gonna have to send it back and order the #2005 adapter and hope and pray that my car is coarse spline.

                      • When I was googling your problem, I caught a glimpse on a bmw site of what month and year the changeover from one spline to the other occurred. Can't remember which site though

As far as I know it was 85-86 but now I am about 90% sure my car is coarse spline. I really have no idea how but whatever haha.

                          • don't buy another off amazon . get one off ebay if anything , one that has a decent picture of the actual product . It seems they sent you one for another car , that solid black portion shouldn't be there , On every e28 hub I've seen , its always just the black accordion plastic . Good luck , I've had issues with amazon in the past , a lot of the time the part isn't the correct one .

I am probably gonna order it straight from momo this time.
