  • ahh i got you i was gonna get some drags but they're not really low offset. im not trying to get some wide wheels under my car just yet though. im looking for a set of some gsr blades to go on my da9 but they're hard to find around where i live. i feel you though, i'm getting sick of the same, cheap wheels on every honda. i'm not against it, which is why i was considering some, but i just don't really care for them as much. but might look at enkei's or some kosei k1's just because they aren't too expensive and are probably better then knockoffs build quality.

    • Glad you're seeing the light when it comes to wheels.

As for the DC5...unfortunately the suspension geometry is crap if lowered more than 15-20 mm from stock. They run into travel issues very quickly and require very different thought put into the suspension than that of the 88-00 Hondas.

      Look through these threads:

http://honda-tech.com/appearance-bui...48948/page126/ (EP3 is essentially the same as DC5)

Welcome to the home of the SHG DC5 Touring car build! This is our first ground up...

Good luck. Maintenance/Reliability over mods this time.

      • +1^. which means get off of stanceworks jkjk. I would need to too because I kind of need functionality. but, I do like looking at builds and such. do work though,SON.

Yeah. It took a while. 88-00 Civics really mess with you. The idiot in me will always love the idea of 4" springs on stock struts combined with some dumb wide wheels with negative offset, but this RSX is just too good for that bullshit.

It's a refined car that must be treated like a fine woman. 88-00 Hondas are just trashy sluts, there is no character there. Nothing wrong with that, everything has its place! But I can't front this car like something it is not.

Thankfully for me, I don't want to ride dumped. Been there, done that with the hatch, UCAs poking through the strut towers, 1.5" of oil pan clearance, no thanks. With this car I'm just looking for low-ish, a decent set of OEM's, and minor aesthetic improvements. No sticker bombing, no plasti-dip, no stupidity.

Speaking of maintenaince, the main reason this build is going so slow is because I drained my bank account on those injectors, plugs, coil packs and fresh fluids. I don't want to cheap out on anything so patience is the virtue here.

I'll grab some decent pictures of it, but I have a hard time praising a sheep.

Slid it into a snowbank last week, no real damage just rode up it. Rear bumper tagged a fire hydrant, cracked my lip and ruined the the paint on both in a decently large section. Bumper re-spray, low as possible, no regrets this spring. I'm done, car is parked for the winter. I can't do this, I can't drive a car I CAN'T GET OUT AND TAKE A PICTURE OF BECAUSE I **** THE WAY IT LOOKS (fitment wise of course.)

I miss my red hatch SO MUCH. It was gorgeous (beauty is in the eye of the beholder shut up), I miss getting out with my crappy DSLR, my heart warm as a wood stove in January, taking pictures going "wow, that is actually mine." That right there, is love.

              I miss her..

I've been talking to my 7th gen buddies about proper axle notching, some tie rod flipping tricks, and other senseless things to get the ES1/EM2/DC5 chassis dumped.

              • Go figure man . I slid into a curb and got a quote for $1500 in parts and labor. But it's only 250 in parts but my car is at my mom's house, 2 hours away. I probably will get the parts and have it done when it's not below zero. When you don't have a garage, it's nearly impossible to do hours of work on your daily. GL homie.

Yeah, the specs are going to be

                    Front - 17xWide with a XX offset, &
Rear- 17xWider with a less than modest XX offset.

Tire sizes will be 195/40/17 F, 215/40/17 R. Start guessing. Now it's down to deciding what style of wheels to hunt for.

Hopefully picking up a pair of 4" springs for the front (7th gens are known for that dreaded reverse rake) off of a buddy soon enough. It's Senior year, and I'll tell you what, they ain't ready.

                    Sanity is for the sane.

                    • good looking cars throughout the thread, bro.

RSX sounds promising. what rates are you running with those 4" springs? I'm trying to get my 7th gen lower but shock travel is limiting me -.-

Stiff. I'm not entirely sure as of now, I have a few more 7th gen bros to ask, and the RSX is a bit of a heavier car.

Any pics of your height? What struts are you on as of right now? I want the car to be drivable so I'm not entirely sure exactly how low I want to go.

                        Thanks btw.

My height sucks right now. i have about a pinky finger gap above 195/50/15s. I **** the 15s too. I know I should be on 16s/17s to get good fitment but college is leaving me broke.

I used to be on Rokkors/Racelands which had with barely touching the tires, maxed out. I could've swapped shorter springs in but their shocks are not shorter than stock, so travel was still an issue. (can be resolved with stiff springs)
I had to sell my setup to pay for books so now I'm on EK ebay coilover sleeves, maxed out, on stock struts. Everything blown. Doesn't ride that bad

                              • Sorry, I guess the Honda fan boys got to me for a second. We have..

TWO limiting factors for ride height.

                                1. Front strut travel (4" springs will be used as needed, however, the physical travel of the strut may become an issue.)

                                2. My driveway. With the hatch I had two 5 foot planks to get in and out, my driveway is bloody murder, a 4" drop after cresting a hill. My mom said no planks (lame lame lame but it was extremely unsafe lol.), so I'm going to try to work some magic with quick tar / crete and see what I can come up with in spring so I don't get stuck or drag through another pan like the hatch..

We'll figure it out. As of recently I've just been starting it once every few days and moving it around the yard. It hurts.

In other news, the Si paid out! I sold it for 700$ and insurance cut us a check for $4,500$! So not only did we do decent, I was into the Si for 4,300$ after totally fixing everything; and the RSX hasn't even hit 3,800$ yet after all maintenance so that's great! I have a few more hundo to rack on top of my tax return for spring time.
