    Progress!

Shortly after my last post, a buddy and I were able to get all the sound deadening out of the car. After it was removed, I put it down on wheels and rolled it out of the garage for her first bath in over 18 months. Fortunately I had a power washer to use, but the car was absolutely filthy.

Once everything was nice and clean, I installed the mock up block and six speed.
This is a bare motor with no internals. I'm using it for the purpose of giving the exhaust fabricator accurate dimensions to work with while creating the exhaust.

On July 6, Speedfactory racing will take delivery of the car and fabricate the following:
-Exhaust Manifold (Equal Length, Twinscroll, V-band)
-Up Pipe (V-band/T4, Dual 38mm EWG plumbed, Catless)
-Dump Tubes (V-band, merged into a single fender exit dump tube via collector)
    -Down Pipe (V-band, Twinscroll, Catless)
-Convert Blitz Catback to V band

Lately I've been working on removing all of the sloppily applied factory seam sealer, excess adhesive and remaining small pieces of sound deadening. This has been very tedious and labor intensive work.

Following the exhaust fabrication, I'll be sending the car almost immediately off to be media blasted down to metal. Because of the soft nature of the media, the car needs to be clean of all of the above mentioned stuff to be worth blasting in the first place. I anticipate about 20 hours of work a week to have it ready before it goes up for exhaust.

After media blast, I'll neatly reapply seam sealer and send the car to a local body shop to be thoroughly cleaned and primed so that I have no surface rust issues. That'll use up almost all of the remaining budget for the year, so I anticipate work on the car to slow down again following the summer. No end in sight..

I don't myself going with a carbon roof skin. I'm not sure anyone makes them for wagons. I'd also much prefer to have a roof vent since the sunroof and a/c is gone.

Here is the car as it sits now. I'm making the final push to remove the rest of the odds and ends and prep it to be media blasted. I'll be removing the sound deadening and power washing all the dirt and grime off the shell this weekend.

The turbo and second ewg showed up on Monday evening. I'm just waiting on the killer b oil pan to be ready to drop the motor and transmission into the car. Hopefully it'll be on its way to speedfactory racing for exhaust fab within the next few weeks.

For fun - here's a quick sketch of where I'm heading with the design. Yes, those are rear quarter louvers.
