im in the middle of shaving my bay as we speak. going to be dropping in a m52 + zf. i have a few questions for you though.
what do you plan on doing for the hood? i noticed you cut off the hinge/support for the prop
do you recommend doing the fuse box in the cabin?
are you going to run ac, and/or power steering
for the 10% of the time i plan on running a hood, i plan on making a prop that threads onto one of the strut tower bolts then hooks onto the hood.
as far as fuse box in the cabin, as long as you're comfortable with wiring, and confident in your memory/labeling abilities id say go for it. it honestly wasnt that bad.
and no im not gonna be running a/c, power steering, wipers, abs, basically anything haha.

what do you use to clean up those welds? Must be hard getting into the awkward places with a grinder :S
it is hard, i dont have a compressor for air tools so all i use is my 4 1/2" grinder. ill have to go back into the hard to reach areas later with another tool to get into corners
Heres what i did today:
First, sold/traded the mk2 recaros for an m42 radiator and some moneys to my buddy nick lanno.
last night i pulled out the rear subframe, gonna drop the tank tomorrow probably, ill have a decent amount of time this week because of new years.
heres the damage caused by my rear axle, i might have to cut it out and weld in new mounts if i cant get that straightened
made a pretty big decision to cut out my core support, it was bent up anyways so i want to replace it, i figured i would make it bolt in because i want it to be easy to take my motor out. i also finished up the welding on the drivers side and got everything ground down.
and a few garage pics, parts everywhere, i have to keep it organized because its too small, I'd go crazy if it was a mess.
Drivers side is 90% done in the bay. Gonna finish up all the welds and i have one more piece to weld in on the firewall tomorrow. I'm also gonna cut out the radiator support tomorrow after i sell the mk2 recaros i used to have in there to a friend
uh, disregard the penis
i also dropped the rear subframe, removed and drained the diff, and tested out my wiring of the fuse box. i turned the key and the radio and other things turned on! so good news.
before i parked the car for winter my axle bolts had backed out and caused the axle to swing around and crack the diff back plate, ill take pictures of that damage tomorrow, it should be a pretty easy fix since i already have a new back plate
ill post more detailed pictures etc tomorrow.
heres where i put the fuse box, i dont know if it clears the under dash panel yet because my old one was trashed so i tossed it. may have to make slight modifications to the brackets if it doesnt
