I wanted a tall shifter, something that shows through the windshield. keeping with the skulls in the engine bay, I bought a skull knob.
I bought some steel and aluminum rods at the hardware store. bent the steel a few times and matched it to the steering wheel angle.
I cut the top off the original shifter, added a short throw shift kit, and welded the new steel to it.
I matched the bends with the aluminum rods, polished them like chrome & clear coated. I painted the steel candy apple red,
and attached the polished aluminum, capped it off with the skull.

I had been wanting these, and finally found a pair, deep dish steel smoothies.

they look great on the stock fenders, but they hit hard.

so I got some widened fenders

I did the white walls for a little bit.

I made a bike rack for the lowrider bike too.

Thanks for the comments guys. I know my car style isn't for everyone.
Usually a car guy, although he might not like someone's car, he can still appreciate the hard work,
both physical, & mentally, that it takes to put it all together, & still make a positive comment.
Lucky for me, my cars built to please me, and not someone else.

So there were a few shows coming up quick. We put in a couple all nighters to get the body painted. Once I realized we were starting to cut corners to have it done in time, I stopped work on the body & focused on just the bolt on parts.

The rhd dash is so old, the car didn't have a fuel gauge. I must have ran it low 1 too many times & the elec fuel pump went out. I found a '68 only gauge, that has the old style speedo, with a fuel gauge in it. I opened it, rebuilt & cleaned it up & set the mileage back. One problem was the gauge face color was faded, so I covered it with vinyl to test the color without committing to paint. I liked it so I left it.

Also, for anyone who might do something like this, I learned a soft toothbrush,
& some bleach will get the numbers bright white again.

Getting ready for a narrow beam someday, I made front tubs. Since I drew them up on my CNC, I was able to spit out an identical pair, & they fit perfect. Since I had the tank out, I cut it & added a flange, so I could add a level sender for the new gauge. Some new color & it came together great.

Now you're pretty much current. I've done some other things, stereo, & custom steering, hid lights, completely rewired the car, hiding most all wiring out of sight, except for spark plug wires. But basically that's where I'm at.

Looking awesome. Soon as those deep steelies showed up I was hooked. You can definitely see your own creative decisions being made (which is my favorite part of build threads).

Front end came out, disassembled the beam.

Started with cutting off the shock tower, & making a new set on the CNC.

Fit it & added the support.
