    hey thanks guys.

back to the interior, I wanted to have a fur headliner,
however, in red I could only find a fur that had a curl.
some call it shag carpet, but it aint no damn carpet. its soft as fur.
to trim it, I wanted black, but I didnt want it to be the same as the door cards,
so I went with a pattern black material. I'm real happy with the results.

as for the seats, I'm planning on paying a shop to upholster them.
I would expect my stitching to be crooked & come apart on me, so
for now, they get pepboys covers.

the engine isn't anything crazy. those who know a/c vws, know a 1641 is nothing special.
I have a 110 cam, dual kadrons, msd ignition, electric fuel pump, lightened flywheel. the trans is a super street trans. has a super diff, freeway flier gears, larger main shafts, hardened keys, bla bla bla. basically
overkill for the motor which should translate into reliability.

oh, and I convetred to 12 volt, here I have an alternator instead of a generator.

          such beige.
          doge not pleased.

I did the body work on the deck lid, & painted it.

I plumbed the air lines, wired the solenoids. I had to make a switchbox.
I wanted it to resemble the center of the dash. came out good.

car isn't low enough. so I pie cut the front pan head 1 inch. most never notice, but doing this centered the front wheel in the fender well. no need to cut out the headlight buckets for clearance now.

                  before pie cut

                  after

I'll fast forward some. i bought rear fenders, exhaust, & glass. repaired the bumpers, & painted them. the rear bumper is lowered, and relief cut to clear the exhaust. got the air tank and compressors in. since its running primered for awhile, i gave it scallops and stencils.

that's soo cool....One thing I would have done differently would be faking an Oval window dash, but that's just me. My first car was a 61 bug I slammed and restored, loved em since

Really nice work on the switch box, looks like it could have been a factory option.

This isn't my first car, but it is my first bug. My first air cooled too. It reminds me of my high school days, cause my friends had bugs. If anyone wants a car that will make everyone smile, any age, race, whatever, buy a bug. Like 2thousand2 said, bugs aren't so serious. its true. It's kinda weird that way, but you can't make it through a gas station or parking lot without someone coming over to talk. It's always the same story, I had one, I have one, or I want one. It's a trip. I had an old german lady looking in my car in a parking lot, & her reply was, "oh my god, you could have sex in there!" with her heavy accent, it was funny as hell. the target demographic isn't silver haired german women, but with a bug, expect to get them all. If you're an attention whore, I've got your car.

I wanted the oval dash, but they're expensive, especially rhd. Then if its oval dash the windshield has to be shortened, so I'd have to cut up the roof. Then if I open the hood, the gas tank & body aren't oval, so of have to get a whole front clip. The doors are different, it would seem to never end, & I should've just found an oval car to start. Here I'm not trying to hide that's its not a true oval, it's just a custom bug, built with no rules.

yes i drove my car around today, so many smiles, laughs, pointing, waving, people punching each other, coming up to it, asking questions, im far from an attention whore, but a bug is easily one of the most fun cars ive ever owned.

you can simply do whatever you want and its still cool, its a bug haha.

i feel like with people these days they are just about one thing, looking like they have a bunch of money. The bug is far from that vibe which is why i love it. I honestly cant stand most bmw owners, i have an m3 cause i love the way they look and drive, i could careless about the egos that go along with most owners.

i love my bug more than my m3 haha
