I used a craft knife to create the creases to form the folds.
Now on the right hand side
I tidied up the right side of the guard.
I cut to the right of the 70mm line
I also realised there was nothing for the bottom part of the arch to weld on to.
As you can see it’s recessed as an end cap goes in here.
So I marked on the guard where I should probably cut. (The filled in lines)
But before cutting, I realised it will destroy the whole shape of the guard and I liked how it flowed right down to the kit.
So I found that I might be able to attach the lower part from the rear.
Drew a beautiful line
Made a little joiner?
Ground back the line so I could weld on it later.
Test fitted the piece. Will come back to it later.
I also found the bottom of the guard fouled on the end cap. Meaning it wouldn’t sit flush when I go to weld it on.
So I made a quick cut and bend to the lip the was fouling. Maybe I can also use this to hold the bottom of the guard down securely for when I roll the guard.
Then before doing any welding, I tidied up the guard fold. Sprayed it with Zinc paint.
Put it outside to dry.
Later on, I decided to finally weld on the guard. Not super tidy, but I’m happy with it.
Then the dreaded cutting out the door.
This time to not mess up the guard. I’ve made a joining strip between the gap in the guard and the door jam.
Good work my man, glad to see you got the door jamb flushed up and sorted. Only recommendation is that your spot welds look a little far apart, you might consider going back and adding one between each that you have now. Kudos for doing something different
Not gonna lie I was a little skeptical when I first saw this thing because it wasn't the prettiest model I've ever seen but I love what you've done with it. Keep it up!
Your last few posts w/ finding just the right fenders is awesome. The patience and hard work is definitely gonna be worth it! Keep up the awesome work.
this is sweet man, love to see people trying there own thing, doing something new, and not just pawning it off to some shop or something. Looks good, can't wait for paint
Awesome, awesome build! I just did my rear flares the other day, wasn't super happy but ya know, they worked. Now after seeing this I want to scrap em and start over lol

Haha I'll keep thinking the same as I look back at all my mistakes. Got to start from somewhere though.

I did a bit more last night.
This time I spent more time welding and cleaning up the guard before I moved to rolling it.
None of it is close to perfect. But it’s a great feeling seeing two pieces of metal become one.
