Ok so both fronts are on, replacing tje front blown shock cartridge was a f#@king nightmare alot of cutting, swearing and knuckle grazing.
But its done now and the car is back on 4 wheels, the fronts are a little higher than they were with the old set up but I will lower the flare to accommodate that and if I feel like going even lower ill shorten the bump stop and it has another inch to go.
I also found out my wheels are not jeep gamblers but a deep dish version made by american eagle.

Hope fully the last update untill its on the road.

I've seen that on muscle cars before, and I think it looks pretty cool.

It all depends on how well executed it is. If it flows extremely well with the hood, then it should look great. If it just looks like it was tacked on and bondo'ed over it will look bad.

What's your opinion on cowl mounted gauges? If I matt black it with the wild coloured wheels and fender flares I think the wackiness would fit right in.

So one front coilover installed, 2 new holes drilled and walla it fits.
The ups man turned up with my new shock canister. So I can rebuild the other front tomorrow.

So my beater is screaming for automotive euthanasia so I will be bringing this car forward a bit, which means bolting up my "test fenders" while my others are waiting for better weather to be finished.
Will also be getting it plastidipped, I am leaning towards matt black with the fenders gloss black and candy red wheels.
Kinda inspired by the crazy mustang RTR-X.

That's not sketchy! Most Eyelet shocks come welded with only 1/8-1/16" of it to the shock. OP you're fine

If anything, get some poly bushings pressed in it

Im not the first to use evo coilovers on a 1g its becomeing a popular mod and coilovers for a 1g aint that easy to come accross unless you want to spend big money and your options are limited.
Its a rubber bushing from a set of kyb agx's and are in good shape.

I can't tell if you welded a roller bearing or a rubber bushing to the bottom of that coilover. If it was a rubber bushing, you can bet that the rubber will wear out prematurely and deflect.

While I can admire you trying to do things on a budget, there is a certain point where you should just buy parts that fit. 1G Talon parts are really easy to come by, and it's not like they're excessively expensive. You could have re-sold the Evo 8 coilovers and bought a set of Talon coilovers for about the same money.

Not at all, it has welds across the bottom, across the sides and in the original mounting holes, if my welds are good(im new at it) then the amount is more than ok. It will be sitting for a few days then it will get the big hammer test on the welds.

Its really starting to take shape now I cut up my old struts to use the strut mount and welded it in the evo strut, im not super confident in my welds so I may go back and drill and tap a bolt in there just so I can be %100 im sure its fine but better to aire on the side of caution.

I also go my tyres mounted and bolted those up and attached the fender flares I'm really happy the way these turned out, I have to play with the fronts a bit though the way they sit just doesn't flow with the rears but I need to install the front coilovers before I can play with camber.

    Opinions welcome.....
