Original 5x120 stuff is getting rare these days. I was lucky to find these 212s even though the halves were shot.

Cant wait to see the car on the rs in the sunlight!
[quote=DER E30;1218628]What is an alternative to a printed vinyl that is acceptable? Laser etched or machined faces?

We've been considering machined faces but want contrasting color without doing another sanding or machine pass over top, so for now we're printing the graphics

I can't keep looking at those pics. Way too tempting to wrap all of this stuff in leather. In the meantime, trying to find a euro front console with window circuit delete.

I get a little rubbing but nothing as bad as you are seeing on your rear and I haven't rolled my fenders as I suspect you had to do. I wanted to stay a bit more pure in my setup so coilovers and rolled fenders were out I did Bilstein/H&R Sports and ST sways along with Turners weld in subframe reinforcement kit. In retrospect I should have done the H&R Race springs the ride is very compliant and a touch more low would look good.

I did feel the RS was overdone but after two+ years with a more modern wheel I caved and bought the BBS because the E30 truly looks best with a nice polished lip and a period correct wheel.
The problem is that modern spoke designs on these cars (even in 17") look too big. For the same reason, I think Andy's car pulls off the 18" RSs because the centers are small. So yes they're big, but visually they don't look too frail.

That said, I would totally run these, even in 5 lug configuration:

I did end up having to roll my fenders. I desperately tried to avoid doing so, but now that it's done I'm happy I can run more tire in the rear. The next setup will be less aggressive for sure. The rear offset is too low for my taste and really needs a stretch tire or fender pull to avoid all rubbbing.

Thank you. It's a silver powder matched to the factory BBS silver.

Yes these pics are from S14.net in a thread started by Conrad. He is the one building those wheels. S14 is down right now but hopefully will be back up soon.

Try messaging this guy through ebay, he is on S14 as well but obviously......he seems to be a solid source for all things E30 M3 rare and euro. User name mevo2. If you want leather all mine was done by a German named Alexander Lenz I need S14 to find the link to his site.

I always think 18s look cartoonishly big on the E30 but who wants every car to look the same anyways.

I wanted to avoid things that cant be undone, also I don't care for stretch and poke I guess I am showing my age lol. I really cant wait to see your car come together. I got my oil changed yesterday fixed my loose hood latch and replaced my rotting rubber throttle cable bushings with billet aluminum ones. Gonna put on my vintage sheepskin seat coverts in case I get a couple more fall drives in before it's away for winter.

                    • like other people said, your attention to detail is outstanding, just the fact you notice that hood alignment, or all those missing parts is remarkable lol.
im looking forward to see where else this build goes

                          • I am replacing the original EVO III rear flap with a carbon flap to match the front splitter. It's just slightly larger than the original, which is nice because it matches the distance the front splitter protrudes from the bumper. The other option was a DTM gurney flap, but I think they're way too big for a street car on 17's without the race spec front spoiler setup.

The carbon flap isn't drilled, so I'm using the original as a template.

You can see that the original flap has tapered holes, so the bolts sit countersunk and flush with the flap surface. This isn't possible with the carbon flap since it's actually hollow on the inside.

That's a factory EVO III bolt on the left. The middle bolt is what came with the carbon flap but it's too short.

Notice the OEM bolt is shorter than the bolt at the far right, that's because the factory flap is contersunk. These carbon flaps use a large machined washer so I needed to purchase some longer hardware.

Sorry for the bad photos. This was late at night. The hardware store only had 6 stainless bolts in the longer size I needed, so I had to buy 2 black bolts which I eventually replaced.

Here it is mounted on the car.

Another view of the front for comparison.

                            Fixed the hood gap

And up the next morning ready to leave for Bimmerfest.
