  • Project Olivia - 1962 Ford Falcon Ranchero

Hey guys, since my mercedes is no longer with me, i got together some funds, and picked up a shit cheap rusty 1962 6 cylinder Falcon Ranchero

Here she is as she stands, i've ordered ALL the replacement parts for the engine...

The over all goal is to have a slammed rusty truck for my store.

Plans for the new future include:
Cut front coils with shorter shocks 2-3 inches
Block lowering the rear the end 2 or 3 inches
    Glass packs
    Vintage shop signage
old school single yellow fog light

future future plans are front air bags

as usual, i'll update and photograph higher quality photos as the build continues, any input is welcomed, and any cool ideas will be taken into consideration.

more parts showed up, new key, new ignition switch, and fuel pump.

waiting on the radiator, going to try to pick up some 14 or 15 inch wheels this week or next week, carb should be here tomorrow, or monday, car should be up and running by the end of the week...

inspiration for low, should be about this low in 2-3 weeks... slow progress...

What engine do you plan on dropping in here? Looks cool, not digging the grille though.

Did you think about widened steelies with some sort of old school ford hub caps for wheels?

This is gonna be sweet. I have a friend who's a Falcon fanatic and I've always had a soft spot for 'em.

i might, for right now, its a super low cost project, so the engine stays stock, im gonna salvage everything i can, the greatest part is that the lug pattern is 4x114.3, so finding some honda guy with steelies he wants to get rid of would be great...

Some more stuff got finished today, my mechanic told me i needed to have the gas tank taken down and chemically cleaned, i presented an alternate solution... since this car is literally a rat rod, and its a shop truck, i pulled some shit out of my antiques and salvage store.... and picked up the carb from the carb shop today.

heres the new fuel tank, its an 18 gallon early 1960's sears boat gas tank, holds 18 gallons... gonna have to fashion some metal straps for it, then im putting some leather straps over the top of the metal straps. the more salvage-y and rat roddish it looks, the happier i am.

and heres my one barrel carb in its sexy rebuilt-ness...

no accuair, too expensive, this whole point is that this car will be made up of cheap parts, and cheaply put together...

                          A wild radiator appears!

                          i pick you, alpine speakers!

so thats it, all the parts are here to make the car run and drive. the car should be running and driving by sunday (i hope), if not, it'll be on the road by next week, which is when the drop will happen, as well as a ton of other things.

                            update time.

The radiator i got was too fat for it to fit in, so we had to cut out the old water pump driven fan, and i ended up getting an electrical fan set up. should run more efficiently.

along with, freeze plugs, because the engine had them pulled before it slept for like 20 some odd years in a field or some shit.

i also started some basic interior work, i got some new door cards cut out, they slide right in, god bless basic american engineering. i havent test fitted them yet, because the car is still at the mechanic, but here they are, for right now, theyre cut out of 1970's wall paneling.

also, heres a tailgate of a truck, which has the truck itself on it, over looking a rural mexican city.
