Thanks Paul, your build is one that helps keep motivation high through the resto work. Let me know if you have any questions about Mini buying and such.Originally posted by Paulpooted View PostI'm not sure how I've missed this but great work Andrew, Such a classic little car and great color choice. I will probably end up trying to find one of these soon since its the only car my girlfriend is actually interested in haha. Keep it up!

I spent the day tinkering with the Mini once again.
I removed the old rear valance as it had taken a beating and began to rust from the inside out.

I dropped out the rear subframe in anticipation of rebuilding the suspension and it allowed me to get to the valance block-off plates.

There's still some work to be done underneath, but I went ahead and mocked up the new valance.

As the day went on, I moved over to the workbench to work on the head. I fabbed up some plugs so I can convert the K1100 head to a dry tooth belt drive system for the cams.

You may want to look into Protech coilovers as well, maybe go to a beam on the back. I guess really depends what you want to do. I've been riding on them for a week now and absolutely love them. I'm saying this after having fresh donuts, blue springs, black springs, red springs, and air suspension on the Mini. I can see pro's and minuses to all setups, but honestly I am very happy with this setup.

Yeah, the subframe and trailing arms will get cleaned up and refreshed and then the usual suspension parts...new cones, original HiLos, camber/toe brackets, and Gaz adjustable dampers.Originally posted by Tupers View PostSo what's the plan, new donuts, HiLos, adjustable dampers and camber brackets?
Huh, I haven't come across the Protechs before. I'll have to look into that option. I've already got the parts to do HiLos/Cones, but maybe in the future. The goal with the car is to have a fun little canyon carver and autocross weekend car.Originally posted by notabmw1 View PostYou may want to look into Protech coilovers as well, maybe go to a beam on the back. Are you bringing it out to h2o in OCMD this weekend?

Obviously being so local I have a bunch of friends going, but.... I will not be attending. I am actually trying to get my other ride, the Trabant, together for a local Air Cooled show that same day/weekend. I have sadly neglected the car, and last drove it probably November last year.... now the brakes don't work, engine don't run, etc. So I am killing myself the past week and half to get it back on the road. Good thing I ordered most my parts from Germany 6-8 weeks ago, most of it showed up early last week! Never been to H20, maybe one day.Originally posted by Rally View PostAre you bringing it out to h2o in OCMD this weekend?
