I can't wait to see which direction you take with this. You can do some pretty interesting things with 998 engines (turbo turbo turbo) so it's worth consulting Vizards bible.

Good to see this in the builds section. That's super clean looking.

Things are moving slowly but surely as we also continue to complete the StanceWorks shop which is nearing an end.

On a lazy weekend afternoon, I went through the steps to remove the 'Special' arches and the stainless steel covers. The seams will be finished with trim and I'll address the wheel fitment once I finalize the brake setup.

Next, I sourced an engine for the rebuild that I have planned. With 49 years of production and applications ranging anywhere from diesel tractors to open wheel Formula Junior racecars, the A-series has too much history to pass up. For me, it's a large part of the character found in the old BMC lineup and it's important to keep a little bit of that around as I dive into this project.

So with that said, Jeremy, Mike, and I all loaded into my 06 Cooper S and headed down to San Diego to see if we could fit 3 dudes and an engine into the small car. The engine that I picked up is a 1275 that came out of an Austin 1300 (BMC AD016). I'll be cleaning it up and squeezing some power out of it as I continue to drive around with the current 998 that resides in the car at the moment.

            Nice work man.

Are you sticking with the 10's?

I'm not a huge fan of Minis, personally, but I'm a massive fan of classic British tin being shown the care and attention that a classic deserves.

                        Thanks, Dave.

This is a build that has been meaning to happen for some time now, so it feels good to finally be under way.

That's my preference too. I love that style.

I'm so glad you're using the 1275. It seems like everyone and their deranged aunt is swapping old Minis instead of keeping them true to their roots.

                          Looking forward to updates.

Love this Andrew. Can't wait to see what you do with it. My buddy has a 67 Cooper S and may have some parts available if you need anything.

I'm in it to have a classic car so I figured it ought to have the classic engine at the heart of it. The A-series is such an iconic engine so I'm gonna have some fun with it.

There's definitely something cool about the swaps that people are doing, but that will have to wait for another future Mini project.
