    found a radiator solution


    still waiting on valves


    started to modify the power steering system back to a vac assit

    pulled each wrist pin and lubed everything. new rings and rod bearings. new crank bolt, new main bolts, new metal water pump, front/rear main seals, magnetic drain plug, and new intermediate shaft seal.

    Issam over at INA Engineering hooked me up with a set of new OEM valves shipped for my wholesale cost of non oem valves.

    3/8 drive 17mm deep socket on a small extension with a hammer. It works great on the 1.8t's

    Dropped off the alternator to get rebuilt....called me back 3 hrs later and said it was ready. wow



    time to tackle the head








    I need to buy or borrow a valve removal tool.

    waiting on UPS for all the gaskets.

    picked up a 75k awp 1.8t longblock for the head and has a few bent valves....

    pulling out the hydro brake assist to convert it to vacuum assist.

    modding the power steering for pump-less operation


    AEB block has cleaned up nicely


    intake is ready and waiting

    ordered new rod bearings and few other things so i can button up the block

    scanned this is in last night and it is true to scale

    garage is cleaned out. sold some i5 engine parts. picking up an AEB 1.8t block this week. also grabbing our mock up aeb block/head on wednesday to start fabbing up new motor mounts.

    well i think i am on the 1.8t path. convert it from cable to drive by wire. should be fun.

    looking at a 2003 passat 170hp engine, but it has a returnless fuel system and that ecu has a few tuning oddities. i can snag up a new oem automatic gti/jetta 180hp harness and i already have an ecu for it then.


    all i really need to order is a clutch and flywheel now.
