That's the plan. Hopefully in the next couple days.

I'm trying to get it running well before I finish up the rebuild. All I have left are a few cosmetic things and some interior crap but it's about 95% together.

I'm having fuel delivery issues right now. It died on me like 10 times earlier today trying to get to the gas station to put some fresh 93 in it. Ended up turning around, getting a block from home and pushed it the rest of the way. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me.

    Anyways I took this earlier.

That had to be a satisfying feeling being able to drive it even just a little bit after 5 years. Keep up the good work man, this thing will look amazing when you're done.

Today was the day I wanted to finish everything up and drive it to a big annual Scirocco meet in the morning (about 3 hours away). I got almost everything done that I wanted but it's still not ready. Leaving a car to sit for 5 years has some negative affects on things.

I did get the tires mounted and the wheels on. One of them has a big leak coming from the valve stem (I reused the old ones, I guess I shouldn't have). The ride height is insane. Hard to believe this is even lowered. I'm probably going to cut a coil or two in the rear, and maybe one in the front. I know it will ride like shit but it already does.

Also with the help of a friend I got the windshield in. I did some reading up last night and talked to someone who has done many. Learned a lot and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I made it out to be in my head.

At about 10 I had everything ready for a drive. I think it's low on coolant, has bad gas, and I'm pretty sure the rad fan has a blown fuse. I stole the headlight bulbs out of my Golf, and even with the brights on I couldn't see a damn thing (need to relay the harness BAD). It sputtered, wouldn't hold a charge, and died three times (and had to push start it each time), but my little joyride was great fun. It's been exactly 5 years to the day that I drove this car last, and getting behind the wheel of this deathtrap once again felt great.

The water temp got a little hotter than I wanted, and it started stalling and sputtering under acceleration so I only drove it a few miles. Tucked back in the garage disappointed it's not ready for the Scirocco gtg tomorrow, but I'll be busy getting it back in driving order. Some new fluids, fuses, bulbs, and other things that will surprise me should be all it takes to get it going.

It didn't look too bad with the balloon tires on, but I just put the RS's on with the 165/50 tires and damn, this thing is sky high. I'm talking fisting wheel gap in the rear.

Time to hack some springs until I can get coils.

Thanks! It's definitely been a learning experience. Not like the Mk3 where there's a DIY for everything and everything possible has been done in the styling department.

I start summer classes tomorrow... not ideal timing but whatever. Basically broke right now and there's a big Scirocco gathering this weekend a few hours away that I really want to make it to. I'm thinking I'll rob the headlight bulbs from my Golf since they're H4's and I can't afford new ones. This is getting pathetic haha.

Hopefully I can get it buttoned up tomorrow (windshield, interior, misc.) enough to take it for a spin around the neighborhood. Hopefully it's still as mechanically sound as it was 5 years ago when I drove it last.

Windshield still not in. Need quite a few people to help out with that.

Currently sitting in the living room putting these together.

They're not perfect. Two of the lips have slight bends, but I figured I'd just run them or the time being. Also the bolts are polished and cleared but I'd rather do chrome next time around. Still have the polish the hex caps as well, but I'm pretty pleased with them considering what they started out as.
