I am just starting mechanical engineering and manufacturing and this pleases my interests like nothing ever has.

The company we are working for is borrowing it. Its a quarter million dollar turbine. I doubt we'll see these becoming more common, especially with that price tag. We(the students) still only have 3 grand so most of the money gets put into rebuilding the triumph chassis, the custom driveshaft, n2 brake, and all the braided AN lines for fuel and oil. We are trying to keep the cost down on custom parts, so we are designing, evaluating, and making everything else. At the end of the day, it's a $250,000 turbine in a free carOriginally posted by EThirtySicks View PostAs a Junior Mech-E, this is fucking awesome. I wish I could have the budget capabilities you guys have when it comes time to do my senior design project.
Damn. How'd you get a hold of the turbine, out of curiosity?
yup!

Wut.
Seriously interested in exhaust routing, and definitely down to see this progress. Crazy rust you guys had to deal with!

We are thinking of running it out the sides, just behind the front wheels.Originally posted by mike-81-240d View PostThis is wicked awesome, how do you guys plan to route the exhaust?
The exhaust is 1200 deg F so its kind of a big deal to get it away from the driver.
The hood will most likely have an inverted NACA Duct-looking power bulge, but we will model it in solidworks to see what it looks like.
Yeah this car is ALL turboOriginally posted by los02 View PostOh, you LITERALLY meant turbine!
