We'll after 4+ years of owning my MKV GTI I thought it was time for a change. It had been a good run and the MKV had had some amazing stages, to so many places & helped me meet so many awesome people which is what I will always remember. The only thing I did not like about the GTI was that it just felt to new and felt like the car was driven by a computer and not me. So at the end of January 2013 I traded the MKV plus a good amount of cash, striped of its air, wheels and other bits, for a 1997 Memory Red 4 door Golf. :love:

The Mk3 after owning it for a few days and giving it a bath.

The body on the car is in really good shape as well as the paint. Now the fun started on the car. The first order of business was to order a new jetta hood, Badgeless two bar jetta grill and Vento E-codes. The headlights would take the longest but i figured that gave me time to get the hood and grill painted.
I made a trip home to Indianapolis to visit some family and friends and my biddy Brevin texted me and told me "Now that you have a mk3 you know you want air". This was true but figured I would be waiting till tax check time to get off those Racelands. He made me and offer I could not pass up and traded the coils plus some cash for his air ride set up...

-Auto Pilot V1 management
-400c compressoor
-Cubby air lift 5 gallon tank
I ran buy his work and picked it up then at 6pm that night started the install.
At around 8pm we had the management running, 3 struts installed and some lines ran.
Then a few hours later is was all finished and aired out.
As you can see in the last picture the sub frame is about 3/4' away from touching down. Car is currently held up by the tie rods which will be taken car of soon enough. Drove it home that night with no issues besides a leaking compressor leader line. Got up the next morning got some good food and headed back over to Brandons garage to help him get his coil overs on his green machine cabby and also do some other small thing to the mk3.
I then spent the next few days just hanging with friends and family then drove back to Cleveland Sunday morning. The car rode so much better compared to the Raceland Ultimos.
The next day I drove to work hoodless so I could bring home my jetta hood and get it to paint along with my grill from BFI.

I dropped the hood and grill off to get painted by Dave Piscione. Drove home 45mins without a hood and some how did not get pulled over. :lol:
I few days later I got this picture sent to me by Dave.
And also spent a evening doing some much needed maintenance on the Golf. Replaced the valve cover gasket, plugs oil change and cleaned up the engine bay a bit.
I few days later my hood and grill were finished and My headlights had finally came in. I spent an evening cutting my rad support so the e-codes could fit and put the the whole front end on. Was so stoked to finally see the car get closer to how I wanted it to look. I drove to work the next day and grabbed some gas on the way there.
When I got to work I was asked wash my car and photograph it... OK! :mrgreen:
I can say I'm happy so far with what I have done to the car and still have a lot left to do but for only owning the car for less than a month I think this is a good start.
