OP, I love what you are doind, that being building a car the way that you want and in such detail. Your fabrication skills are impressive considering most people pay others to do the things you are doing. Good too see a fellow fabricator working towards their goal.
Thank you Oxer! Comments from CandySucker are like water off a ducks back to be honest LOL

Appreciate the comments, I've got a picture in my mind of the finished article so I'm just teaching myself the skills necessary to get me there

Time for another update... afraid no fancy pictures but that shouldn't take away for the hugeness of the update LOL.

Ever since I bought the M5 engine, I'd never really had a plan of action regarding the wiring, it was always one of those 'when I get there I'll worry about it'....but now's the time I needed to start worrying! With the dry sump in production and had to get a plan of action for the wiring sorted!

After a lot of internet trawling I stumbled across a UK company called Ergen Motorsport, http://www.bmw.ergen.co.uk amongst other things these guys specialize in bespoke wiring looms & ECU reprogramming to allow people to fit S54'S, S62's & S85's into pretty much any BMW!!... S85 E21 anyone?!?!

At ERGEN Motorsports we are able to modify your existing BMW OEM ECU / DME allowing you to fit almost any BMW engine to almost any car.

          We find the most popular engines are the E46 M3 – S54 B32 & E39 M5 – S62 B50

With our Ecu and Loom kits you are now able to fit these engines to your fast road, track, or kit car hassle free & mostly Plug and Play.

We offer an upgrade to an AlphaN Map. This map negates the need for the Mass Air Flow Sensors. This provides a set map for Ignition timing and fuel delivery making an ideal upgrade for a Fast road & Track cars.

We also offer the option of a custom wiring loom on an exchange basis. We will prepare your loom in a way which will get you going as quickly as possible. We will leave the cables you will need to connect to the car labelled up to make things quick and easy.
After exchanging a few detailed emails discussing my options I was sold, I'm going to be running a custom loom & Alpha N map (which allows the removal of the MAF's amongst other things) :-) I got the wiring harness & ecu's packed up and set to Ergen! Works started and the huge amount of harness I sent to them I've already been informed they can do away with over half as its not necessary! So I'm excited to see the outcome and of course getting it plugged in and fired up!!

I'll be keeping my facebook page updated with any progress pictures I do get during the work http://www.facebook.com/Projekte36

Awesome, remember seeing this thread on bimmerforums. Loved how it all started by a interior re-trim.

First big update of a few over the next few weeks I hope!

Last night went over to the engineers to collect my wheel hubs, brake bells and caliper brackets I designed for the center lock wheels! They were meant to take 4 weeks to make but ended up 4 months!..... that's why I like to do as much myself as possible but never mind the work and quality looks amazing so I'm well happy

I need to get together nuts and bolts etc. to assemble all the parts and trail fit everything (fingers crossed it works! LMAO) but this'll be in a couple weeks because at the moment I'm building a small extension to my garage to give myself some more play space! :-D

Just for now a little taster....

So the last few weeks have been quite exciting for the build and life really.

I received back from Ergen Motorsport my modified and programmed wiring and ECU for the S62 swap! Which I'm saving for another update. Also from the prevous page you'll see I went to finally collect the centre lock hubs for the wheels... so that only means one thing... test fit!!!

Apprehensive doesn't cover it, wondering if my ideas would pay off and work out... so I set about tentatively bolt things on for the first time..

Front mocked up (minus caliper bracket)

                        Wheels on.... looking goood!!!!!

Thought I'd try and get the car to a more realistic dropped level to really get an idea of how it looks and bolts the rear wheel on....

After having a trouser moment and letting the overall sink in I stood back to see how shes FINALLY shaping up!! I've had these wheels 4 years (I think, could be longer) and this is the first time its ever properly sat on them! I can now crack on properly with shaping the arches to hug the wheels :-)

So here we have it as it stands.... 19" BBS magnesium centre locks :-D I'm happier than a dog with two dicks!!!
