  • Just a honest build with dreams...

Picked this up with the intentions of just having a good on gas daily nothing else. But as every car enthusiast, we all get bored with the same ol routine & tend to want more.

    1st day home

Since this is a daily I had to clean up the interior a little

Hopefully I come around mint 200SX floor mats, but probably wont be needing them in the future

& we all know we must attain to maintenance
    So I did just that..
    Clutch
Clutch cable (pain in the A** in these 98 models with cruise control)
I knew my brakes were sloppy & 2hrs later proved I was right

    IMG_0242 by E.gourdet, on Flickr

    Wires
    plugs
etc... gotta do my belts soon also.. stupid squeaking noise

But then on the ride to work 1 day my hood flew half way on the parkway ! pulled off to the side to notice my upper tie bar has rusted from the bottom of the radiator support. completely forgot about that when I bought it. With that being said I started sourcing the whole front-end.

    IMG_0240 by E.gourdet, on Flickr

Still need to get the upper tie bar & driver side fender lining just been lazy...

    Hood latch !

& then I got bored & decided to go on YouTube & watch all motor fun..

    Which made me get this...

    IMG_0353 by E.gourdet, on Flickr

& quick inspection, I thought I was in good business
But then hurricane sandy came & lets say.. living across the street from a marina doesn't mix.

& that put a major setback nearly destroyed my house & family... So I was almost lost all motivation for the build since water was 9ft high in my area & destroyed my engine

But then I said to myself I can't deal with this damn rubbing road noise anymore

    So I got these

    IMG_0577 by E.gourdet, on Flickr

& now I once again have motivation to finish this. & decided to help me was to put it on this site, maybe that will help a little for me to continue. But then again building credit, being a full time student & having a full time job is succccccch a killer when trying to realx & get the hands dirty lol.. but here are my future plans. Enjoy

My plans are simple. Function over form. going for about 280whp+ N/A & light as possible but have great drive-ability. Also want to track this sometimes

    Engine & Drivetrain
    2.4L Mazworx stroker
VVL head swap or keep the DE head & do extensive porting etc..
    Custom header
4AGE ITB's (have to make a custom adapter)
    Aem Standalone
    A/C & maybe P/S delete
Delete all unnecessary wires & such to save weight
    B15 6spd tranny swap

    Suspension
    BC Coilovers
    Bend rear beam with support
    New bushings
    Whiteline F&R Sway bars

    Interior
Corbeau GTS II seats or B13 SE-R seats
    4pt Mazworx cage
    Gut the rear

    Exterior
    Platinum Gray
& hopefully a custom diffuser not totally set on that idea yet

This will be slow because of how busy I am & that I prefer quality.. so even though money might be tight I rather take time to do it right the 1st. All comments welcome

Looks like a good start! I almost bought one a few months back so I really want to see how she turns out!

280whp on an NA 4 banger is very ambitious to say the least.

looking forward to progress. Are you in long island?

Yes I live in Freeport but stay out east till everything gets better. It's been proven a lot of serious SR20 builds with the stroker have reached 300+whp on stock n1 cams & pump gas (93 octane)

& built vvl engines have reached around 240-250whp mildy built. I plan to also reach these numbers being high compression 12:5:1 & hopefully E85

& I really want to do the n15 pulsar vz-r front but can't source the bumper for my life. The grille & headlights are pretty easy to come buy

                Little Update..

Decided on to tackle a little projects while i'll wait for the big stuff to come in.

Got tired the way gray carpet would look after stepping in water & such so I got this

                To change this..

To this..(probably needs another coating but I ran out)

                & passenger..

Decided since I will be ordering BC Coilovers real soon, I thought this might help & put me at a set basis since I will doing front end work.

I **** auto-parts store brand shift knobs (the aftermath)

                Untitled by E.gourdet, on Flickr

Going to file down & thread the shifter so this nice knob can fit. ( it's going to be temp still deciding if I want to have red, black & teal coloring going on in the interior )

Got bored on a weekend which led to this. I think i did a OKAY job

                & here's a write that I followed

& the final product ( I need paint wrapping skills )

                Untitled by E.gourdet, on Flickr

Decided to probably sell the sr20. It's just not adding up for the numbers I want for the money to get it to the level. Even though I'm still very tempted to buy the stroker kit I'm just going to go with a VQ30DE-K. I've been reading up since it can use VQ35 internals I can naturally make a bolt on stroker kit to increase the displacement to 3.3l & reach levels around 270whp tuned & have a more drive ability compression. Also if i'm correct since it's smaller displacement I think with some great head work I will probably be able to out-rev a VQ35 having 3.5L parts in a 3.0 correct me if i'm wrong.

Going to go with an 02-03 Spec V tranny with VQ bell housing (& that's the cheap route also better ratios for all motor purposes )

If you try this again, use 3 heavy coats at different angles. Check out my DIY, I've used this technique many times and it works great, just did an intake manifold with a lot of different curves and shapes and it came out really even.
