  • Back from death- the revival of a 74 BMW 2002

Just picked up my new project. It's a 1976 BMW 2002 in Pastel blue. It has some rust here and there but is a pretty solid car. I am sick of everyone building '02s the same way. The plans are to build a light, quick and low car with unique styling.
    Light- gutted interior
    Quick- cammed and carbs.
Low- air ride. Custom setup from bagriders. And a wide stance with some custom turbo flares.
Unique- trying to stray away from the average builds lately.

    Pics will be posted soon.

Most 02s are just turbo flares front valance and some coilovers. Heist's 2002 has given me a lot of outlook on how to be different yet still clean. I'm sure I will be pm-ing heist a few times thru this build for some advice. He seems to know just about every square inch of his after reading his build.

light, quick, low, what everyone wants right?
unique not like everyone else though.
I'm in just to see what you try to do to make it unique.
declaring you want it to be unique from the beginning already means you're trying too hard.
Hatchbacks, wagons... It's NOT all the same. You want in? Don't get a mazda 3, get a mazda 6 wagon. Don't get a wrx get a legacy wagon. and theres a reason the A3 isn't called the A3 avant... Scion does not make a wagon it makes a weird van, but no wagons

            Sincerely,
            The Wagon Mafia:Inner Circle
P.S. Is your tail a wagon?

            Show cars are lame.

Congrats on your 2002. I love seeing 2002 builds. For engine advice/setups, get an account on bmw2002faq if you don't already have one. The guys over there are super knowledgeable about 2002 specific questions. Again, welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take it.

'the same' I don't think I've seen one that looks like all the other on this site and Heist is a great example of that.

                Oh and..

thanks for the kind words. I dont have a account yet with 2002faq but i have been i there site more than 20 times in 2 days already. I have some unique ideas on paper. they just need to be put to the test on the car in the upcoming months.
there is no point to reinvent the wheel. we all know what looks good on a 2002 and what looks shitty. i just think that there are some designes and changes that have never been done before on an 02 and i have no problem putting the work in to see how they turn out.

Pics posted tomorrow. Gutted the interior and found 1/4 of the floor pans I expected. Cut them out and picking up so sheetmetal tomorrow. The car runs awesome and sounds like its gona be a fun car to drive. I need to make a new rear subframe mount tomorrow because the original is pretty rough.

Good luck with it, interested to see what your plans are. But I gotta say if your building it to be original you probably shouldn't have picked a 40 year old car, pretty much everything that can be done to them has (even if you didn't read about it on the FAQ). Build it the way YOU want it to be, and it'll turn out great.

Exactly. This build is the way I want it to look. I have some different plans for the car. I love the lines of the car but I plan on making it a little wider and with a little more attitude.I have been so busy with school and work I haven't had a chance to post up some pics.
