A small update, still rebuilding the motor. It needed a rebore and I cleaned the head and lapped the valves, now is time to put it all back together

My car didn't have any seat belts and found these in a scrapped 115. They're not original to the car but I like the old look they have. A good scrub and some paint later....

Finally I started my motor yesterday. This engine rebuild too way longer than expected as I had to wait for parts and have the pistons modified to work, after I had installed the head etc. I timed the diesel pump following the workshop manual using the "drip method" and it fired up after a few tries. I took the car for a spin but it feels like its not pulling as much. I'll take to a shop to have the pump set properly.

Finally I have some worthy updates. The car needed some mechanical TLC before I could start working on the air ride. I've been cruising this summer and fixing little problems as I go along. Last week I started working on the trunk install so I'll be able to route all the airlines and wiring to the Accuair controller. I want to enjoy the car till the end of summer before pulling the suspension apart.

I'm not sure of the final colour scheme for the trunk yet, but I prefared a painted air tank to bare aluminium. I chose a colour that matches the steering wheel.

Green paint is etching primer for the paint to bond to aluminium

Final colour, not happy with the finish because I ran out of paint after 1 coat.

Changed the 90's tape player to a vintage looking retro sound unit

I started making the mount for the accuair manifold and air tank from some scrap steel. I used a bender at work to form the centre part

              [/URL]

The legs are just tacked together to check the height and so on

I want to shorten the legs and raise the centre plate after seeing this....I took it apart after I took these pics to make some adjustments

The manifold needs to be closer to the tank too..

Thanks! The mount for the tank is almost done (needed more bracing and chopping up). I bought some carpet to trim the wood, something I wanna finish next week, I'll post some pics of the finished items soon.

I had some time to work on the trunk install. I decided to scrap the first rack I made as it warped out of square after a lot of cutting, rewelding and modifying. I also thought of a better way to mount the e-level ecu (on the flat bars behind welded at the back) this will make the install look more elegant with the wires going through space rather than around the rack etc

Here's Ver 2.0, still needs a few holes and painting (satin black)

Cheers...I have been moving at a really slow pace, but the trunk is almost done. This week I started trimming the carpet, after that its onto the fun stuff.

I really like your benz too, I came across more pics of it on the net and its a beauty!

However these are giving me a hard time, removing the springs has to be the worst part

I had a really hard time trying to remove the rear springs on Saturday. I asked a local mechanic and he gave me a tip that made it a 10 minute job. I thought I'd share it since there are a lot of guys lowering w115s. To remove the rear springs simply unbolt the diff centre bolt, and lower the diff gently by using a jack. Once its all the way down the spring can be pulled out by hand..

Here's a pic with the bolt off
