Bought a new proper Dremel300 this morning as I wasnted to polish the posts.

Thought about it last night and for the hassle, I thought it was worth a bit of effort.

Pics below of the inlet ports, before and after.

    Pics aren't the best though.

    After

I'll try to take some betterpics tomorrow.

          Looks like a gorgeous project.

My 1978 Porsche 924 build thread is quite boring.

One thing I did pick up on, the last inlet valve giude won't accept the valve.
The valve was difficult to remove, so after a bit of digging around, it needs to have a reamer sent down o get rid of the slight burring inside.
I've checked the valve, and all is good with that.
But it's seeming more and more likely this head has been rebuilt at some point.
So i'll be reaming the guide tomorrow too.

Ordered some more bits today, looks like they should turn up on Monday now, so weekend will be free to strip the ITB's and clean them, or have them soda blasted.

Had the block honed today too, needed doing as there was slight scoring on a few of the bores.

Here's a pic of a Zoners M30b35 Turbo, with ITB's, so it all fits.

nice progress I'm a fan of the big six swap. I wish I could find a e34 m30 in Australia but its almost impossible.

May seem like a stupid question, what wiring loom are you going to use on the engine the e34 adapted to the e30, or the m20 loom with the lengthened injector wires?

                      Hi,
i'm sure "Down under" you have access to other BMW's that carry the M30b35 engine, E24 6 series, E32 7 series, all M30's.
Wiring wise, on an N/A engine going into the E30, there isn't tens of wires to cut and reconnect, on my last project, the E30 cab, it was a total of 3 wires to swap over on the C101 plug.
YOu have the option of using the M20 loom, but there is alot of wiring then to make it work, best option is to use the M30 loom and swap over a few wires.

There's plenty of info on here.

There is a template for S50 ITB's to fit onto the M20 head.
I'll see if I can find it.

                              Well, only a small update.

Had a load of parts Soda and media blasted to get rid of all the oil and wax on the parts.

                              The ITB's were like this

                              To this

Also, had some head work done in the last few weeks too, thought it would be nice to treat it to a better flow

Had the seats and vlaves cut to 3 angled finishes.

Next new seats, cutter pilot installed.

The first cut at 60* is the bottom cut.

Followed by a 30* top cut, then the seat cut, both are on a double sided cutter. The seat cut is at 46* the two faces will bed in together within the first moments of the engine being started.

This is what you end up with after it has been soda blasted, and all the cuts finished.

A before and after, not alot of difference really as the head had already been scrubbed, but the soda gives it a nice uniform look and doesn't damage the surface of the alloy.
