Chase's 73' Merc w108 Build Thread

I've been so busy with my new job and working on this thing that I've been neglecting forums in general. I poke around from time to time but no where near what I used to. If you want to follow my my build and our builds at work follow me on Instagram @cdkieke.

My build has taken a radical turn since I started my new job at a hot rod/restoration shop. I'm learning more than I could ever imagine, and learning from a very talented individual.

First off I chopped my front end off.



I wasn't completely satisfied with it and I plan to do something more factory looking. But I am not to that point just yet.

I've also since completely gutted the car of all wiring, motor, and mechanical bits. The engine bay has been completely shaved/redesigned for the small block Chevy being swapped into it.

I enjoy BMW's (your E90), but I mainly love old mercs (my first three cars were Mercs). I am genuinely excited to see how this turns out. Come the end of the month I'll be searching for a W108, W114, W115, or another W123 to fix up. I miss my Mercedes days.

BTW does it have conventional rear suspension, or SLS?

I'm having air ride installed in my W108 right now (I'm here lurking around) - my mechanic made some cheap ones that work quite well, he may be able to do the same for you if you're installing in a similar way. Give him a call:

I have to say that I wasn't quite sure about that front end at first but now after loads of work and effort you've put into it, it starts to look great! Keep the updates coming, can't wait to see more.

Hey boss, I'm loving the metal work. Maybe I missed it but how do you plan to get the fenders/valence off? Is it gonna be a one piece frontend?

Love how its coming along. One question. How are you keeping or going to keep your dimensions on the front (each side) the same? using a made template, or just running it by eye/feel.

this thread is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S...your skill set is amazing, love the build, can't wait to see what those 17's are and what this thing looks like finished, what color are you going with for the exterior now?
